Physically: curled up in bed with my hubby on one side and a slice of chocolate cake on the other side (true story hehe)
Mentally: back on this beach with the sun in my eyes and the sand in my toes!!

I FINALLY officially mailed this baby quilt to its new owner yesterday!

Purpose: For a little niece who just turned 1 this year (I think?? Counting is hard OKAY 😅), and her older sisters love Frozen so I'm thinking she's about to as well!!

Pattern: Homestead Star by . My first time sewing diamonds and they came together so well!! I did make one adjustment to the pattern by calculating the backing pieces to need fewer seams (mitering the edges of the strips instead of sewing triangles onto rectangles to make the same shape). More math, but less fabric and seams in the end!

Favorite part: The adorable tags! Or the epic quilting? Or the scrappy binding? Or the name my husband picked out for the title?? It's too hard to pick!! (If you don't understand the title, go watch Frozen 2 and report back. I'll wait. Isn't the little fire lizard the most adorable thing EVER??)

Binged while hand-stitching binding: I don't remember everything but I do know Secret Life of Pets was definitely in there somewhere! (Also slight bunny trail but I've been sucked into some cult documentaries lately so that's always a good way to keep myself awake since some of those hit a little too close to my HYPER-conservative past life before I learned that Jesus truly does set you free... and it's not actually a sin to spend my free time using my God-given abilities to make beautiful things!! Just know that if you were ever rebuked for wearing jewelry and celebrating birthdays and shaving your legs, I see you. And Jesus loves you for who you ARE, not what you DO. Okay— rant over, I promise!! 😅)

I pulled out some fat quarters for the giveaway pinned on my Insta (go enter if you haven't already!!), and the sardines are already on their way to a quilty friend who's been searching high and low for them! As for the rest of it, I'm so super super excited to start chopping it up into little tiny pieces!!

I definitely already have a few projects in mind... I'm dreaming of an EPP heart baby blanket made out of the soft pastels, and a baby boy airplane quilt made out of the High Flight bundle (let me know if you know any good airplane patterns! Or maybe I should design one?? Now there's an interesting thought 🤔)... and maybe some wonky little Christmas trees if I run out of other projects...

Meet the Louis Quilt. My second pattern test ever, this time for .co. Her Louis pattern is so sweet and perfect for beginners with helpful tips throughout.

Don't want a baby quilt? That's okay, cuz she wrote it for a throw size and a twin size, too! Perfect for whatever you need!

My favorite part? Those half-square triangles aren't paaaaainfully sewn together one at a time . Instead you fly through the process by making EIGHT at a time!!!

When I was a kid, I dreamed of living in the woods. My favorite book was Robin Hood, and my favorite American Girl was Kit solely because she loved Robin Hood too, and I thought we would make good friends!!

I was so dedicated to the storyline of living in a treehouse that my childhood bedroom probably still has Scotch tape hiding in the corners from the time I used an entire pack of green construction paper to "wallpaper" my entire bedroom ceiling with green so it would look like a tree canopy.

And when I was an adult? You better believe nothing changed. I'll still head to the woods in a heartbeat. And be the happiest little clam the whole time I'm there!!

So far I'm loving the cutting labels she provided. And how fast the half-squares triangles come together when you follow her directions to make them EIGHT at a time... I gotta do this method more often!

This is gonna be a baby quilt for a little boy so I dug through my stash for the most adventurous fabric I could find... and camping is what I came up with!

Using a directional print for a pattern test felt like a bold move, and I was a bit worried about the triangles distorting the print, but I made a test block and thankfully the print is small enough that most of the focal points survived. I might swap out a few RVs that got chopped in half tho... we'll see what the rest of the blocks look like and then decide!!

The funny thing is that random quilty pics is our new normal so hubby didn't even question it hehehe... I picked a good one who puts up with all my crazy quilty requests and serves as my own personal quilt paparazzi whenever and wherever I need it!!!
