Seersucker is a lightweight cotton fabric that looks crinkled. The crinkling is what makes it so light, as it traps air near your body to keep you cool. Originally, seersucker was made from cotton and silk, and after the first wash, the cotton would shrink, and the silk would pucker, which gave this effect. Today, most seersucker is 100% cotton, and the puckering is created through a special weaving technique.
