“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬
I’m not one who believes that our loved ones send us signs from heaven. It’s not anything I will go down swinging about and I’m definitely not going to argue, but I strongly believe that once we get in the presence of our Creator, there will be nothing else greater and eternity will be worshipping Him, they don’t need to do anything else for us here.
But I do believe that because God loves us and cares for us so intimately, that he gives us reminders that we are seen, loved and chosen by the Father. He knows our every thought, breath, desire of our hearts. He knows what we need before we even know to ask. Every time I see a butterfly, a rainbow, a cardinal, anything that reminds me of Addi or our other babies and loved ones in heaven, as they cross my mind, I thank God for seeing me.
Having someone meet you in the pit, to see you at your absolute worst and continue chasing and pursuing you, reminding you that this isn’t all there is and that you are not alone - that’s what I’m reminded of and every little reminder calls me to worship. The God who created Addi and now has her forever in his presence, the One who got to welcome my Papaw Ed home 25 years ago, that sent His only Son to die in my place - He sees me.
This butterfly (and probably its parents and grandparents haha) has been showing up for years. I never saw the blue butterflies until after we lost Addi, so naturally I think of her every time I see one. This specific one has gotten so comfortable with us, it lands near us all the time and I got to hold it for a while the other day. It was sweet to sit and watch it so beautifully just resting there, of course think of our sweet Addi and missing her, like always.
But ultimately it just pointed me back to Jesus. I’m so thankful that we can have hope in all things. And I’m thankful God created so many beautiful things. One day closer to forever 🤍🦋

Our fourth annual Addi’s Day. 💕 For those who may not know, March 22, 2022 was our daughter’s due date. She was stillborn on November 5, 2021 at 20 weeks and 3 days. We wanted her due date to still be something we celebrate in her memory, so every year we ask people to join us in paying it forward on 3/22 in honor of our Addi.

We usually do a lot of big things through town, but this year we found a few girls turning 3 next weekend. One needed a cake, one needed gifts and one needed a sweet party. God brought 3 girls turning 3 who all needed different things on the weekend we wish we were throwing a 3 year old a party. His timing is so sweet.

Of course we would LOVE for you to pay it forward next Saturday in honor of Addi. But I really would ask for you to commit to a time of prayer on 3/22. Pray for the families who are losing children today, who lost a child yesterday, who will lose a child tomorrow and next week. Pray for the parents, their families, their marriages, the siblings of the child. Pray that they would feel Jesus holding them close, that they would turn to God and not away and that God would bring a community of people to them who would love them well - now and in all of the days ahead. Child loss, infant loss, stillbirth, miscarriage - they’re all awful realities of this world and no amount of good deeds will fix what’s lost, but only Jesus can minister to those broken hearts and only the hope of Christ can bring healing to such deep loss.

Thank you for helping us honor the life of our precious girl.

2025.

It is still so wild that the world can just keep spinning, so much life has happened since Addi. Yet the grief is still right there, just like the day she went Home. Something as silly as the hooks for the loofahs in the kids’ bathroom still brings me to tears. That extra hook shouldn’t be empty. She should be here.

I’m still praying through what this ministry should look like moving forward. How to best honor Addi and love others well, all while brining glory to God. Addi’s Day will still be a big celebration I’ll promote here, keep an eye out for that.

Until then, if you’re missing a baby that should be in your arms this year, know you’re not alone. Make this year one where you find community - seek some moms walking this road, too. Someone you can lean on, cry with, tell you it’s okay to smile and be happy, too. Find community, walk together and I pray that above all you experience the hope and peace of Jesus. 🤍

Birthday prep isn’t supposed to be like this. Looking through the same handful of pictures, picking out a new candle that won’t be lit and missing our beautiful girl.

I’m so thankful for the only thing that sustains us and gets us through every day - the saving grace and hope of Jesus. There’s hope beyond the grave and beauty from these ashes. We are one day closer to forever together 🤍

Thank you, Jesus. We love you, Addi B. 💕

I miss her always. The big moments felt harder at first, holidays, birthdays. But now just living our normal life is so hard. There’s always a space where she should be. Our Addi is missing, always. She’s never not on my mind. With every mundane, simple task, I know she should be here. But I know where she is. And she is perfectly made whole.

Grief is messy. Life is hard. God is so good.

I don’t know what this space will look like. But I know I need to take a step back. I don’t have the capacity to do this well right now. I’ve had multiple people fake losses to try to receive stuff, ended up asking for money. I’ve lost access to my account twice now because of being hacked…. Im tired of fighting right now.

I have 6 more boxes I’ll be handing out for the last 6 months of this year. But I need to spend some time really honing in on what The Addi Brooke Co. will be. I want to do this well and be able to devote more of my energy to the places that matter and for now, that means taking the rest of this year off. When I come back, it will be with clarity in how this ministry will operate and serve families well, how we can operate and generate enough income to make this a functional organization, how I can honor my daughter in the way she deserves and how we can point people to Jesus.

Good things are coming. See you later. 💕

To All The Mamas tomorrow -
If your day looks like breakfast in bed, flowers, and handmade crafts,
Surviving the trenches of spit up, dirty diapers and missed naps,
Moody teenagers with constant eye rolls.
If your day consists of visiting a grave or holding an urn,
Weeping and pleading for your womb to be full of life.
If you’re praying the day passes quickly with no hurtful words thrown,
Longing for reconciliation and a peaceful home.
If your day is full of smiles and joy,
Full of grief and pain,
Or some weird mix of all of it.
I hope you feel appreciated, acknowledged and loved. Everyone’s journey to earn the title “mama” looks different, but it’s a badge of honor nonetheless and the greatest calling. God will continue to use and equip you to do good work as you draw near to him, in every season.
Happy Mother’s Day. 💕

I don’t have a lot of words for today, I’m just thankful for the opportunity to join other moms for a wonderful time of tea and fellowship. Bereaved Mother’s Day was a holiday I knew nothing about until we lost Addi. No matter what your day looked like, I hope you felt seen and were reminded you’re not alone.

Praying for all the moms who now carry the “bereaved mother” title, today, next Sunday and every day. You’re still their mom. Your baby’s life mattered. You’re not alone. 💙💕🦋

Authentic community has been such a blessing, especially after losing Addi. There’s a group of local moms that meet monthly and we talk, share highs and lows and do things together. It’s a safe place. One where you can share the all of the scary things, the things that bring judgment or apathy from those who don’t get it are met by compassion, understanding and agreement. We share each other’s burdens, talk about our babies in heaven by name. And ultimately we always point each other back to Christ.

This month we put together floral arrangements for us and for other moms who have babies in the arms of Jesus in honor of Bereaved Mothers Day this Sunday. It’s encouraging to be reminded that you are not walking this road of grief alone.

If you are walking this road, no matter when your loss was, and you haven’t yet found community, I strongly encourage you to try. Be bold, step out, show up to the group. It’s scary and can seem like it’s just another hard thing, a reminder that you’re a parent without a child who should be here. But God will continue to meet you there and the blessing of community waiting for you is incredible. And if you’re a local Union County or close by mama, you’ve always got a seat at our table and we would love go here about your baby, your story and walk with you. 💕

I’ve had a hard time lately. You think you’ve moved past something, you’ve come to a good place. But then the grief cycle comes again.
I’ve seen SO MANY STORIES lately about tiny babies, born around Addi’s gestation. And they miraculously are born alive. And they have a doctor who will fight for them. And they battle months in the NICU. And they live.
Stories of moms who go into early labor, but it miraculously stops and they keep the baby alive and safe until they can be born further along. And they live.
So many stories that begin in tragedy. But end in miraculous life.
It’s amazing and I’m not second guessing the miracles and I’m no less thankful for their precious lives.
But it’s hard. I find myself wondering why, again. Why couldn’t that have been our story? Why couldn’t Addi have been a miracle?
I know beyond the shadow of doubt that God could’ve stepped in at any point. He could’ve miraculously healed the hematoma. He could’ve stopped my preterm labor. He could’ve done anything at any point and she could’ve lived. I know that.
But He didn’t. And He is still good. I know this full and well. But my inability to grasp eternity makes it hard.
I know that my Addi still got her miraculous healing. The ultimate, forever healing. I know where she is. I know that her life still has value. It still mattered and God still uses her for His glory.
But there are days where I question. I doubt. I feel sorry for our family, for our boys who remember parts of the hardest days, for my living daughter who will grow up without her big sister.
But then I remember that God is faithful. And good. And He works ALL THINGS for good. This world is not our home. God did not kill Addi. He was not silent. He grieves with us.
But Hope is coming. The pain we experience now is temporary, the joy waiting for us is eternal. I’m thankful for God’s faithfulness, even when I waiver and doubt. I’m thankful that I know where my Addi is, even when I don’t know why things happened the way they did.
I’m thankful God gave us Addi. And I’m SO thankful He gave us Jesus.
There is joy in grief because we know the end. Even if we sometimes question our why. 💕
