We get this question a lot, so let’s clear up the difference between a resale store, a consignment store, and a thrift store.
✅So what is Once Worn?
Once Worn is a buyout/resale store. When you bring your kids’ items to us, we go through everything and choose what we think we can sell. If we accept an item, you get paid upfront. You don’t have to wait for the item to sell.
Once we buy it from you, it becomes our inventory. We take care of pricing it, putting it on the floor, and selling it. If it sells tomorrow or three months from now, that part is on us.
✅What is consignment?
With consignment, the items technically still belong to you until they sell. The store puts them out for sale, and once they sell, you receive an agreed-upon percentage of the selling price.
So the biggest difference is simple: with consignment, you get paid when your item sells. With Once Worn, you get paid when we accept your item.
✅And what about a thrift store?
Thrift stores generally operate on donations. People donate items to the organization, and the store sells those items to help support its mission or organization.
All three are great ways to shop secondhand, but they work a little differently!
We love being able to give moms and families a way to clean out the kids' closets, get paid for the things they no longer need, and give those items another life with another family.
