“Hey everyone, Donavon here from D & S Laser Engraving in the Prudenville / Saint Helen / Houghton Lake area.

I see a lot of you checking out our posts — the views are there — but the shares have been quiet lately. That stings a bit, especially when I hear some folks are steering clear because I use AI to help write these updates.

Here’s the truth: I’m a combat veteran (OEF V) with 100% VA disability for PTSD and TBI. Writing doesn’t come easy anymore. The words get jumbled, the focus slips, and some days it’s a real battle just to get thoughts out clearly. On top of that, starting this business has been a grind through a ton of bu****it — dealing with a slumlord, financial hits that nearly knocked us out, and the daily weight of PTSD that makes even simple tasks feel like climbing a mountain. I’ve lost big on past attempts and kept pushing anyway because this is what I can still do well.

Yes, I run the business out of my house here in the area. Sorry that Denton Township ordinance does not let me have a sign or allow customers to come to the business location. Everything is handled by local pickup, delivery, or shipping to make it work.

I use AI as a tool to help me communicate what I actually want to say — same way I use my Epilog lasers to create clean, precise engravings on knives, hats, patches, and custom gear that I couldn’t do freehand. This isn’t about being “lazy” or “stupid.” It’s about adapting and pushing forward with the skills I still have strong: turning out quality laser work for 2A supporters and Northern Michigan folks who want patriotic, durable, one-of-a-kind pieces.
