Retiring design: TAMBORES DEL CARIBE

The Tambores del Caribe design has been in production for about 18 years now and is a personal favorite of mine. I drew it at a time when I started attending more reggae specific festivals and was my take on a purely Caribbean vibes design. Soon to be removed from website.

Retiring design: SESSIONS

The Sessions design has been in production some 16 years now and has been a favorite of DJ’s, music engineers and the like. I originally drew this piece as a vision board trying to manifest a room like this for myself and this was when I started pushing the limits of how much detail you can get when screen-printing. I’ve gone much further since. Soon to be removed from website.

Retiring design: RITMO

The Ritmo design was also created in 2005 as part of my diaspora collection from that now iconic year of new designs that catapulted me into my current style of designing. I drew it with the intention to show the regions of the world where my favorite music comes from and I overlaid those regions with beaded shekeres where the skirts used flag patterns and national colors from some of the nations within those regions. And of course the shekere is my most favorite of instruments. Soon to be removed from website.

As I keep adding new designs and color options it’s getting harder and harder to hold on to some of the long running favorites. In the past I have quietly retired designs and moved on, but this year I want to highlight the ones about to be retired as they have been giants in my portfolio and I want to give you the chance to grab one before they are gone forever. Soon I will pull all remaining stock to make specialty cuts out of them to sell at the booth, but for a short while longer you can still purchase at estiloclothing.com

First to be announced is AFRO-LATINO

The Afro-Latino design was created in 2005 and has been in production and a crowd favorite for 20 years. I drew this design to highlight three countries from Latin America and the Caribe that celebrated and integrated the African roots portion of their heritage into their national identity via music and culture. The three countries I chose were Panamá, Cuba and Puerto Rico with a special salute to Panamá as that is where my mother is from by placing a Panamanian hat atop the Afro-Latino.
