We are a mother daughter team of patternmakers, designers and seamstresses that specialize in the 18th and 19 centuries of women’s clothing. Over the years we have attended Market Fairs and Historical events all over the midwest and east purveying our wares in our 18th century style marque tent and at many indoor events as well. The years have brought many changes to the Roost, with the untimely death of Bill in 2003, son/grandson Shelby took over as major handyman and ‘doer of all things’ - well, Shelby now has a family of his own (lovely wife Heidi and 2 of the best kids ever - Sadie Mae and Kyler!!! Shelby and his family still fight on the side of the Continentals of course. Go Dragoons!) Annie married Rod Faulkner of Williamsburg Va. Rod pulled up his stakes in the Tidewater, moved to the Midwest and has stepped in to take the handyman place with grace and talent. (He has a specialty of his own too - a hand made line of 18th century fishing gear - check the website for these items!!)
Among our specialty items, we have become know for our Riding Habits, as well as fitted jackets, shifts and many styles of caps. We search far and wide to offer a wonderful selection of one of a kind fabrics (exquisite silks, brocades, fine linens and cottons) We welcome all enquiries and special orders… keep in mind though - as we are the only seamstresses - it may take some time to complete an order - we do not contract out any work! We have an extensive (seriously extensive!) library of reference books, a wonderful collection of extent garments of our own, many volumes of photos and notes we have made from visits to museum collections both here in the States and England. We are very willing to share our library and collection - please call and schedule an appointment. As an aside - we have 2 programs we have written using our collections as a visual basis for education and available perform them - within easy travel distance of course! Additionally - Rod’s specialty while at Colonial Williamsburg was character development and explaination of 18th Century Economics and he gives an awesome seminar….
