The Commitment We Made With 44 Families - And the 30 We Want to Add
FROM SANDY's DESK
Dear Friend,
August already. When it arrives, it shouldn't surprise anyone, but it always does.
It's really an exciting time here at A Lot of Good.
*The Backpack Drive was very successful and made a big impact on lots of school-aged children.
*The A Lot of Good Thrift Store had another good month of donations and sales.
*Plans are being formulated for this year's Winter Wonderland Project.
*There Is Hope Project is moving forward for the 2027 families.
*And, YES — there's something big coming in October.
It seems like a lot to do for a small organization like A Lot of Good. Maybe it is. But doing something meaningful, something that will impact the lives of a family that is struggling is worth the effort. It is said that you can't hit the ball if you don't take a swing. Hopefully, you're on team ALOG and are ready to dig in with us!
Remember, Together, We Do A Lot of Good.

P.S. — This month is all about one thing: funding 30 new families for 2027 through There Is Hope. Here’s how you can be part of it (https://alotofgood.org/2026/08/01/there-is-hope-project-update-august-1/)
BACKPACK DRIVE - FINAL RESULTS
The goal was 100 backpacks. And many of you stepped up to the challenge. The final result: AMAZING!
BACKPACK GOAL: 100
BACKPACK TOTAL: 153
Backpacks were distributed to There Is Hope families, several school districts and even Loma Linda University Children's Hospital.
Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy project. You have made the upcoming school year brighter for so many.
THERE IS HOPE PROJECT AUGUST 1 UPDATE
Here at A Lot of Good, August means one thing above all else: it's the month There Is Hope (TIH) heads back into full swing for the fall giving season. So let me reintroduce it properly, because some of you are new here, and even the ones who've been with us a while deserve a refresher on exactly what we're building.
There Is Hope is the three-year program for families working their way out of crisis and into stability. Right now, there are 44 families active in the program — 20 in Year 1, 16 in Year 2, 8 in Year 3. Every single one of them gets real, tangible, monthly support: gas cards, grocery cards, and thrift store vouchers for clothing and shoes.
Here's how the project works, and how you can make it real:
ALOG covers the shopping. You cover the food and gas. That's it.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT - COMMUNITY PARTNERS
HOW THE PARTNERSHIP WORKS — AND HOW FAMILIES BENEFIT
Every month, A Lot of Good hands its Community Partners vouchers they give directly to the families they serve — good for free shopping at the ALOG Thrift Store in Upland: clothing, household goods, and everyday essentials, at no cost to the family.
It all runs on the same engine your donations make possible: the thrift store. 100% of donations go directly to families. No overhead. No middle. In 2026, the value of goods reaching families and partners will exceed $150,000 — real help, delivered through people this community already trusts. Read more . . .

THE EASIEST WAY TO CHANGE A FAMILY'S YEAR
Monthly giving turns a one-time gift into steady, dependable support a family can count on. Just $10 a month keeps the momentum going — and you can start or stop anytime.
SAVE THE DATE - WINTER WONDERLAND
It's barely August and already most stores have Halloween merchandise out on display. Some already have Christmas stuff out, too! Is it just too early to think about Christmas?
At ALOG, we not only have been thinking about it, we're planning for it.
Winter Wonderland is our annual holiday gift project for TIH families and partner-referred families. It's one of our favorite things of the year — and it takes a community to pull it off.
When the time comes, there are four ways to participate:
Amazon wish list, toy drive, financial donation, and unwrapped toy donations. All the details and the wish list will be ready in the fall. For now, just put it on your radar.
December 5, 2026 — although late drop-offs will be accepted through December 23. Full details — wish lists, drop-off dates, and all the ways to give — are coming in the next couple of weeks. Want to be the first to know? Watch for updates at alotofgood.org/wonderland

Before you close this email…
Somewhere in this community tonight, a mom is doing the math on whether she can afford gas to get to a job interview and still put dinner on the table. There Is Hope is the answer to that math.
For $6.58 a day — $2,400 for a full year — you fund one family’s first year of grocery and gas cards, while the A Lot of Good Thrift Store covers their clothing and shoes. 100% of donations go directly to families. No overhead. No middle.
Thirty new families are counting on this community to reach the 2027 goal. You can be the reason one of them makes it.
