Urbanna is stepping back in time this August for Founders Day 2026!

This year is different, because we’re also celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

From 10:15am to 3pm, Virginia Street comes alive with colonial history, live music, encampments, and adventure.

One of our favorite highlights this year: Daniel “Firehawk” Abbott, a descendant of Native Americans and interpreter for Historic Jamestowne, who will be sharing ancient stories and demonstrating the traditional life skills and culture of mid-Atlantic Native Americans right on the corner of Cross and Virginia Streets. Powerful, fascinating, and not something you see every day. 🪶

There’s also Thomas Jefferson and Martha Washington making an appearance, musket drills, a replica of John Smith’s shallop you can climb aboard, the legendary Mitchell Map, the Luna sailing ship docked at Urbanna Creek, colonial children’s stations, and more.

Pick up your map at the opening ceremony and spend the day exploring!
