Our Community. Our Heart. Our Home. ❤️
Over the past week, our entire community has faced flooding unlike anything Uvalde has experienced in recent history. Like so many of you, we’ve witnessed the heartbreak, the uncertainty, and the incredible acts of courage and kindness that have followed. Our hearts have been with every person, family, business, and community affected across Uvalde and the surrounding area.
To every family, business, and individual who has been affected, please know you have our deepest love, our prayers, and our unwavering support. We know many are facing tremendous loss and uncertainty, and our hearts are with each of you as the long road to recovery begins.
We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the countless people who have stepped in with open hands and open hearts to help others. Thank you to our first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, search and rescue teams, road crews, utility workers, volunteers, churches, neighbors, and every person who has given their time, resources, or simply shown up for someone in need. Your compassion has been an incredible reminder of what makes this community so special.
To our vendor partners, sales representatives, customers, friends, family, and the many people from across Texas and beyond who have reached out with prayers, phone calls, messages, and offers to help, thank you. Your kindness, encouragement, and generosity have meant more than words can express.
Like so many throughout our community, members of our own team have also been affected. Several of our employees have experienced flooding, damage to their homes, or have been unable to safely travel. Through it all, they have continued to show incredible strength, compassion, and dedication. We are so proud of each and every one of them.
Uvalde has endured so much over the past several years, but one thing has remained constant. When our community faces hardship, we come together. We lift each other up. We show up for our neighbors. We remind one another that no one has to walk through difficult times alone.
The floodwaters may be receding, but the work is only beginning.
We are already working with several of our wonderful vendor partners to create opportunities to raise funds in support of our community’s flood recovery efforts.
We are also exploring additional ways to support local relief efforts, including helping coordinate donations of clothing, essential items, and other resources where they are needed most. We’ve even heard from fellow retailers in other Texas communities who have reached out asking how they can help support Uvalde. We are humbled by the outpouring of love and look forward to sharing more information as these efforts come together.
While our doors are reopening, our commitment to this community never closed.
Beginning Monday, July 20, Julien’s and Mi Vida will resume our normal business hours.
As we move forward together, we want you to know our doors and our hearts are always open.
Whether you need a few moments away from the chaos, a familiar face, a place to reconnect, someone to listen, a hug, or simply a reminder that you are not alone, we’re here for you. We hope our stores can be a place of comfort, connection, and hope as our community continues to heal.
Thank you for continuing to lift up your neighbors, support our community, and show the resilience, compassion, and strength that make Uvalde unlike anywhere else.
Together, we will heal. Together, we will rebuild.
With love and gratitude,
Your Julien’s & Mi Vida Family ❤️
