Every time I take on something new—another project, a packed week, or just a wild idea I can’t let go of—my husband’s right there, steady as ever. He brings me wine when I need a break, tries to make me laugh with his ridiculous jokes (even when I’m clearly not in the mood), and supports me through it all without needing to understand every little detail. He’s an incredible dad, a loyal teammate, and my biggest fan. I seriously couldn’t do this without him. And he’s pretty darn handsome too 😍.

A quick update on where things stand—
Lately, I’ve been deep in the fabric selection process, working with a few textile companies to find the right material for the aprons. It’s been trickier than I expected. I haven’t finalized anything yet, and to be honest, I’ve hit a bit of a standstill. I want the fabric to feel just right—something that wears beautifully, and fits the vision I’ve had from the start. I know I can make adjustments down the road if needed, but for now I’m trying to trust the process (and myself) to make the best choice.

I was a teenager when my mom went back to college. I remember the weekends she’d gather with classmates around an anatomy manikin, and the late nights she’d stay up finishing homework—only to wake up a few hours later to get us ready for school and head to her full-time job. She was a single mom of four, on welfare, trying to build a better life. And while it all looked hard, I could tell she was lit up by the learning. She was into it. Her dream was to become a nurse.

At the time, I didn’t fully understand what she was carrying. I was too wrapped up in my own teenage world to see the sacrifices she was making. It wasn’t until I was an adult that she shared the full story: she had completed her associate’s degree and been accepted into a nursing program—but she turned it down. The school was too far, and we needed her. So she set aside her dream, because being our mom came first.

That choice—the quiet power of it—didn’t hit me until much later. But as I reflect on who I am now, in my twenties, thirties, and forties, I see it clearly. Empowering women has always been at the core of who I am. And now I understand why. It’s because I saw what sacrifice looks like. I saw what strength looks like. Even though she didn’t get to chase her dream, she showed me how to go after mine.

Recently, some friends asked me about the brand I’ve been building—what it stands for, what I’m really about. And I told them: out of every 100 women I meet, if I can inspire even one to go after her dreams, I will have done something meaningful.

And so today, I’m sharing the name I chose to carry that mission forward: A. Hundredth.

It’s more than a brand. It’s a reminder that women have it in them to strive for and attain the things that might feel out of reach. Sometimes, all it takes is a little inspiration, a spark, a story. Sometimes, it’s just someone to look up to—the way I’ve always looked up to her.

I know, I know… it’s been a minute! Life has been full, to say the least. Between working full-time, finishing up my MBA at UC Davis (only two quarters left!), and building my apron line, things have been non-stop. I just got back from a few days in LA for the LA Textile Show, and I’m close to finalizing fabric selections - my patterns should be done very soon! Oh, and I finally landed on a brand name—can’t wait to share it with you all soon. Balancing everything has been a challenge, but it’s all starting to come together, and I’m feeling more inspired than ever 🤩

Some behind the scenes of our research party a few months ago. Without these women (and my man 😉), I wouldn’t have had anything to start with. I’ve leaned on them for support these last few months and I’m eternally grateful. P.S. I’ve come up with a brand name!! More to come… :)

Happy Friday! 🎉
Big milestone alert: Yesterday, I submitted the first two designs to my pattern maker—things are officially in motion! The patterns are expected to be ready in about a month, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Next on my list? Finalizing fabric choices! I’ll be heading to the LA Textile Show at the end of February to gather inspiration and select some must-have materials.

I’m thrilled with the progress so far and can’t wait to keep moving forward. Stay tuned! P.S. These are not my apron designs 😉
