October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and Taylor Swift nailed the typical narcissistic abuser on the head.
Take a read, educate yourself, be aware, check on your friends, and trust your gut and get help when needed ❤️
Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” song and video will change lives. She just spotlighted what a narcissistic abusive relationship is... on national TV.
It shows you that there isn’t a “type” when it comes to abusers. Abusers have friends, money, fancy cars, and homes. It is not necessarily poverty or vulnerability; there isn’t a “type”. DV can happen with anyone.
Abuse is not always fast and hard, it is often slow like a poison, killing one’s self-esteem, sense of self, dreams, identity, and hope. It is a problem and it is in everyones neighborhood, we MUST talk about it and be more aware of what DV looks like.
That is why seeing these dynamics portrayed on such a massive platform matters. Someone may watch this video and recognize a friend. A sister. A daughter. Or themselves.
We invite you to take the next step with us. Organizations like The Caring Place are doing this work every single day: answering crisis calls, providing emergency shelter, advocating for survivors and helping people rebuild lives after abuse.

Taylor Swift, thank you for shining a major light on DV. We’d love to show you what that action looks like right here in our community. 💜
