Piper&Cloth will be at Fine Day Fair this coming weekend and I’m so excited for this one!

If you’re local to South Salem, NY, come spend the day discovering beautiful small businesses, and enjoying a really thoughtful curated market filled with makers, vintage finds, home goods, flowers, and more.

I’ll be bringing some “New” Piper&Cloth pieces along with a few favorites and would love to meet some of you in person.

This was one of the very first children’s dresses I ever made 15 years ago and I absolutely fell in love with it.

Part of that is because this style began with me. Every spring and summer I have always loved wearing dresses like this myself. I loved the comfort, the movement, and the way the fabric gently swayed as I moved through my day. Naturally I wanted to create a children’s version.

When I did, I fell in love with it in an entirely different way.

As adults we are not usually spinning and twirling through our day, but through this dress I was able to see that same feeling through the eyes of a child. Seeing little girls run, dance, and twirl while the dress moved around them felt so beautiful yet practical.

Some designs stay with you and this one always has.

Looking back, I honestly would not change much about this dress. The comfort, movement, oversized sleeves, and full ruffle hem are exactly how I imagined them years ago. The only thing I would add now is something I love in nearly every dress I wear myself, deep pockets.😉
