Some stories can’t be stitched into a dress. They have to be written instead.
So today, I’d like to share mine.
Many of you have followed Piper&Cloth for a while, and some of you are brand new here, but I’ve never really taken a moment to simply say hello.
I’m Yvonne, founder of Piper&Cloth.
Over the past several months, I’ve been quietly working on something that’s become incredibly special to me.
As I began creating The Summerhouse Diaries, I realized I wasn’t simply designing a collection of clothes. I was building something rooted in the memories that inspired it.
A collection with chapters, coordinated pieces, thoughtfully chosen prints and colorways, and a story woven through every design.
That’s how The Summerhouse Diaries came to life.
As the collection began to take shape, I found myself writing just as much as I was designing. There were stories I wanted to tell that couldn’t be stitched into the clothes themselves, so I wrote them instead.
The truth is, every collection begins with childhood.
They begin with memories. Sometimes it’s a feeling. Sometimes it’s a place. Sometimes it’s something as simple as remembering what it felt like to spend an entire summer outside, coming home only when the streetlights came on.
Those memories have shaped not only this collection, but the way I think about childhood itself.
Every silhouette, every carefully chosen print, every vintage sewing pattern I study, every old family photo I return to, and every small detail I preserve is in service of one hope:
That one day, a child will look back at a photo of themselves wearing Piper&Cloth and remember the people they loved, the places they explored, and how those clothes became part of the memories they carried with them.
This is only the beginning.
I hope you’ll follow along.
With love,
Yvonne
