When God says, āGo get your hat,ā you go get your hat. ā¤ļø
Today my mom and I stopped at a restaurant in Jackson that I had never been to before. I knew there was a giant cross outside. I knew it was owned by a Christian family. That was about it.
But almost immediately after walking through the doors, I heard in my spirit, āGo get your hat.ā
I didnāt know which hat. I didnāt know who it was for. I just knew before I left, I needed to go back to the car and get one.
As we ate, I started noticing everything around meāpaintings of Jesus throughout the restaurant, Christian music and videos playing, and an atmosphere where their faith wasnāt hidden. Our waitress, who is also the general manager, began telling me about the husband and wife who own the restaurant and about the wifeās faith and ministry.
Eventually I went back outside.
And when I opened my car, I knew exactly which hat.
Tetelestai.
āIt is finished.ā ā John 19:30
Then, as I was closing the trunk, I saw one of my Speak Life prints sitting there. And immediately I thought, that too.
Because our words matter. Weāre called to speak life over ourselves and over othersāto encourage, pray, bless, and remind people who they are.
So I grabbed the hat, the print, and a few business cards and brought them inside. Not to make a sale. Not because I expected anything in return. Simply because I felt called to bless the owner with them.
And on my way back through the door, I stopped and took this picture.
I hadnāt planned it. I hadnāt staged it. But look at what was hanging directly behind the hat.
Jesus on the cross.
Tetelestai.
It is finished.
Sometimes God gives you the whole explanation. Sometimes He simply gives you an instructionāand the understanding comes while youāre walking in obedience.
Today it started with four simple words:
āGo get your hat.ā āļø
And Iām so glad I listened.
