🏁 JUNIOR OUTLAW DOUBLE FEATURE RECAP 🏁
What a wild ride for Daltyn and the #48 team!
Before the regular racing program began, we rented the track and Daltyn was laying down some incredible lap times. He found the perfect line, showed great speed, and felt extremely comfortable in the kart. With plenty of track time under his belt and the kart handling well, he decided to skip practice.
Daltyn lined up on the pole for Heat 3. Two laps in, two other karts were battling for space and the #48 caught the tail end of it, shifting the rear axle and resulting in a P6 finish.
That lined him up P18 for the first feature. The race went green to checkered, and Daltyn found his speed again, made several clean passes, and worked his way forward to finish P16.
He started P16 in the second feature and once again began moving through the field. With two laps remaining, Daltyn was making a pass for P11 when he caught the dirt and a tire marker, sending the #48 airborne.
The kart barrel rolled three times before landing back on its very destroyed tires.
Daltyn was understandably shaken, but he climbed out of the kart under his own power and took a short ambulance ride back to the pits. The EMTs evaluated him, found significant bruising across his shoulders from the HANS device and seatbelts, and provided us with concussion protocol to follow over the next week.
He is home resting, being closely monitored, and taking things one day at a time. Our only priority right now is making sure our driver fully recovers before he gets anywhere near the kart again.
While it was a frightening end to the night, we are incredibly thankful that the safety equipment did its job and that Daltyn was able to walk away.
The results will never tell the whole story. Tonight we saw speed, clean passing, confidence, and determination from Daltyn. The kart and the tires can be replaced. Our driver is what matters.
We also want to give a huge thank you to the amazing crowd of family and friends who came out to support Daltyn tonight. Seeing so many familiar faces cheering him on meant more to us than we can say, especially after such a scary ending. We are incredibly grateful to have such a strong support system behind him and the #48 team. 💙
