reedom means different things to different people.

For some, freedom is simply the ability to go where they want.

For me…

Freedom is waking up every day with the opportunity to build instead of destroy.

To encourage instead of discourage.

To pour into young people instead of watching them repeat the same cycles that so many of us were taught to normalize.

There was a time when I believed the labels.

The labels placed on me.

The labels I placed on myself.

The false narratives that said success looked one way… that manhood looked one way… that respect had to be earned one way.

Looking back, I realize I wasn’t free.

I was living inside beliefs I didn’t even know had become my prison.

That’s why days like this mean so much to me.

Standing in a park surrounded by families, children laughing, mentors encouraging, community leaders showing up, volunteers serving, and young people graduating from Beyond the Label…

I couldn’t help but pause and thank God.

Because this is what liberation looks like.
Not just freedom from a place…

But freedom from a mindset.

Freedom from believing you have to become what your environment expects you to become.

Freedom to imagine something greater.

Freedom to choose purpose over pain.

Freedom to build instead of break.

One thing I’m realizing more and more is that our communities don’t just need more events… they need more ecosystems.

Too many times people will see somebody already doing real work in a neighborhood, already building relationships, already pouring into the youth, already bringing resources and programs into an area… and instead of pooling resources, collaborating, and strengthening the impact, they’d rather separate themselves just to be seen as “the one” doing something.

That mentality is part of what keeps our communities divided and stuck in cycles.

Anybody can throw a block party.
Anybody can throw a cookout.
Anybody can create a moment.

But what happens after the music stops?
What do the youth actually walk away with?
What systems were created?
What opportunities were built?
What support became accessible?
What relationships were formed that can actually change lives long-term?

That’s the difference between doing something for attention and doing something for impact. 💯

Real community work requires collaboration, humility, structure, consistency, and people genuinely caring more about the mission than the spotlight.

We need more people willing to build WITH each other instead of around each other.

City to city. Hood to hood. The energy has to evolve.

Not just vibes.
Not just visibility.
Not just temporary excitement.

Real programs.
Real mentorship.
Real opportunity.
Real healing.
Real investment into the people.

That’s how narratives actually change.

Grateful to have been a part of the Power in Pink fashion experience alongside so many talented designers, creatives, models, and visionaries. Huge love to Branding Beauti for creating a platform that celebrates creativity, confidence, fashion, and culture all in one space.

One of the best parts of the night was reconnecting with my brother Big Twin. Since the very beginning of my journey — from when I first came home and started building my brand from the ground up — we’ve always supported each other’s vision. That kind of genuine support and brotherhood means something.

Honestly, I still don’t know which feeling is greater: seeing my creative vision come to life in real time… or helping young people realize their own potential and power through creativity, culture, and self-expression.

Either way, I’m grateful.

Hampton Roads has some of the most talented, creative, stylish, and influential people in the world, and I’m proud to represent where we come from while continuing to push the culture forward on a bigger stage.
