Hey y’all! Long time no post! After getting sick, moving house, dealing with the hottttt weather we’ve had in SoCal, and otherwise making it through the busy biological field season, I’m back and raring to talk about yarn. Luckily, an opportunity is coming up this very weekend!! I’ll be at the Vista Fiber Arts Fiesta October 1st and 2nd.

I have Monster manual yarn, Stardew Valley yarn, and even some Six of Crows colorways. This is an everything must go sale, so I’ll be offering 30% off of purchases of two or more skeins!

Maru is here!! The sciencey robot building stargazing woman in STEM girl of my dreams 💫🌌 🤖

I’m absolutely OBSESSED with this colorway. It turned out exactly how I envisioned it, perfectly moody and starry and just like Maru! I want to wrap myself up in this colorway and just take a nap under the stars.

Keep your eyes out for next month’s colorway, it’s coming out on the 5th of July. Your hint is that it’s our first bachelor, and breakfast is definitely his favorite meal of the day. 👀 Any guesses? Hopes? Dreams? Comment below!

Finally arrived to the grid, Emily from the Stardew Valley Club!

It’s been a ~time~ since I posted last. This month has been full of unexpected car expenses, a laptop that won’t charge any more, and an illness close to the family, but we’re making it through! I hope that this FO in Emily (stitched by the wonderful ) sparks as much joy for you as it did for me.

Why marry your favorite stardew valley bachelors and bachelorettes when you could have them in yarn form!!

Welcome to Lacewing Fiber Co’s first ever yarn club: the Stardew Valley Yarn Club! This baby’s been bouncing around in my head for a few months now, so I’m so excited to show it to y’all! Every month on the 5th, a marriageable bachelor or bachelorette will go up on my website as yarn for preorder. You’ll see the inspiration images on my grid, but you won’t see the actual colorway until it arrives at your door! This club will start in May, and go through April, 2023.

Haven’t played stardew? No problem! Come along for the ride and enjoy the yarn! Every month I’ll post a color palette for the character of focus so you can enjoy the mystery and intrigue with everyone else.

I’ll be offering a variegated skein in your pick of any of my bases (classic and 2-ply fi*****ng, classic DK, and classic worsted). The cost will be $29 per skein plus shipping.

Red Dragon 🐉
Oh man, it’s already the final colorway in the collection, Red Dragon! This colorway has gone through many iterations to get to the perfect colorway. But from the minute I thought of this collection, I knew I had to have a colorway representing the most iconic D&D monster there is, a dragon! This colorway is a deep red with strips of orange and yellow, like a Red Dragon’s fire bearing down upon you.

Also, I’m very happy to finally announce that LFC will be donating 5% of profits from this collection to the Environmental Health Coalition ( )! They’re a not-for-profit organization in the San Diego area and their focus is on environmental and social justice. They work to help disenfranchised communities in the SD area to make their voices heard, and to work towards a cleaner environment for those communities. I really wanted to donate to an anti-racist cause for this collection, and I personally care a lot about the environment and environmental justice, so this local-to-me organization seemed the perfect fit. Give them some love, and shop the MM collection opening on January 30th!

Bugbear 🧸
Bugbears! Neither bugs, nor bears, these confusingly named creatures are common in low level games. They’re actually a fancy type of hobgoblin, though if you ask me they’re not much scarier than a run-of-the-mill hobgoblin. However, they have a cool name and a good vibe, and that’s reason enough for me to like them!

Bugbear is the last tonal yarn for the collection! It’s a warm toned brown that reminds me of a well loved teddy bear. It pairs well with pretty much the whole rest of the collection, and it brings depth to projects in which it is used.

Mind Flayer 🧙‍♂️
Did you think that intellect devourers were bad? A little hardcore perhaps? Friendly reminder in case you forgot, they do in fact devour people’s intelligence, so they’re nothing to sneeze at! Well, those guys are literally subservient to the Mind Flayers, a race of octopus headed super geniuses who want to take over the world. So I hope that gives you an idea of their threat level (high).

Mind Flayers are definitely not the most unique monster; evil geniuses who want to take over the world aren’t entirely uncommon in fantasy, but their method of doing so is very cool. They enslave some victims to do their bidding, and otherwise suck the brains out of all of their enemies. They use intellect devourers to consume their prey’s intelligence, then the intellect devourers lure them to the Mind Flayer’s homes so they can eat the rest of their brains. And that’s just one of several monsters they use for their nefarious purposes, not to mention all the humanoids they control! A Mind Flayer in power is quite a frightening thing.

The colorway of Mind Flayer is a gorgeous blue gradient, from a light blue to a deep night sky blue. I just love it, it reminds me of a starry night sky or the mysterious depths of the ocean. Perfectly fitting for such a mysterious and creepy monster.

Gelatinous Cube 🧊
Ice Ice Baby (dun dun dun dun dududundun)! Gelatinous Cubes are not actually ice cubes, but the coloring of the one in the Monster Manual makes me think about melting ice. Anyways, Gelatinous Cubes are a lot of fun. My favorite encounter with one of these jiggly boys was when there was one built into/trapped in the floor of a dungeon. Clever… evil, but clever.

This colorway is almost a minty blue, light enough to go with pastels, but also saturated enough to stand up with the other tonals in this collection.

Intellect Devourer 🧠
I quite like this colorway, I think it really suits these wacky brain monsters well. Intellect devourers are what you might expect from the name: walking brains that consume the intelligence of other creatures. They’re kind of terrifying in game, since they can not only reduce your intelligence to zero, they can also eat your brain and replace it! Thus turning you into a large, person-shaped vessel for the Intellect Devourer. There are ways to fix those ailments, but that’s a pretty intense way to die!

Intellect Devourer is a brain-pink colorway that toes the line between being really feminine and being super creepy and fleshy. This colorway (or versions of it) appears in both Beholder and Specter, and would pair beautifully with either of those. I also think it would make a nice warm pair with Chimera, Skeleton, and an unreleased brown colorway.
