Finds For the Week

A few interesting things this week, the silver color horse head figurine is by Pier 1 Imports. The detail is lovely, you can almost feel the wind blowing through the mane.

There are three martini glasses on cobalt blue curved stems. They are interesting to handle and definitely have a great presentation.

The bookend is fantastic for anyone looking for a Southwest feel. The layout includes a basket of corn, agave in a pot a Saguaro Cactus, Chile peppers on the wall, and a steer skull braced against the adobe wall.

The final two items are a bottle in the shape of a crescent moon and two Whitehall cube juice glasses in avocado green.

All these items can be found in my Etsy shop - if someone hasn't gotten to them first.

Finds For the Week

A lovely set of Bramble Blackberry by Wade of England in the 1930s-40s. Pictured here are a jug, open sugar, a berry bowl, and a jam bowl with a lid with a cut out for a spoon.

Wade Industries was primarily known for Whimsies", small porcelain animals. 🐾

The green plate is a vintage Tiara Club Sandwich deviled egg tray. It's a lovely piece made by Indiana Glass.

These items can be found in my Etsy store.

A week for finding pottery. These two pieces are great representations of art pottery in the 1940s and 50s, and both pieces are examples of Nelson McCoy Pottery. The one on the right is known as Palms Leaves and Berries, and the one on the right is an example of the Triple Lily Vase.

I love reading about the items I come across, and since I have acquired several McCoy pieces I found out the following.

Did you know that there are three eras for McCoy Pottery? The company was started by W. Nelson McCoy and W.F. McCoy in 1848 producing stoneware crocks and jars.

In 1933 Nelson McCoy reorganized the company and started producing art ware pottery.

In 1967 the company was sold to David Chase of the Mt Clemens Pottery Co. The letters MCP was added to the bottom of some pieces. When the company was sold again in 1974 to Lancaster Colony Corp. who added a logo marking to the bottom. Throughout this entire time the pottery continued to carry the McCoy name and Nelson McCoy Jr. remained as president until his retirement in 1981.

Four years later after heavy losses, Lancaster sold the company to Designer Accents who ended up closing their doors in 1990.

What a history! Thanks for reading, the above vases can be found on my Etsy site, along with other interesting items.🤓

Oh my, Happy Valentine's Day to me!! ❣

I never believed I would ever come across a Lalique, Steuben, or Meissen porcelain piece that I could afford let alone all three at the same place! I did pay up a little for these pieces, but not way up, and they certainly are not the most collectible pieces on the market, but to me, they mean the world.

The ashtray is Steuben Glass and words cannot describe how this glass feels in your hands. It's rather like stroking a piece of cool velvet, or the way the water feels as it runs over your fingers in a brook. If you ever have (or have had) the chance to handle a piece of Steuben you will understand what I mean. Naturally, it is signed by Steuben on the bottom and comes in its own flannel bag.

The little pin dish with a frosted Swan is Lalique, and the detail in the face and wings is remarkable. This piece is signed Lalique France on the bottom and is a mid-century piece.

The Meissen porcelain is an antique German porcelain-covered serving dish in the Blue Onion Pattern. Their maker's mark of 2 crossed swords on the bottom is the symbol used from 1825-1924.

A mix of antiques and reproductions, this week's finds range from Staffordshire King Charles spaniels to candle and incense holders.

The taller set of Staffordshire in black are true antiques, the paint has been worn away in places by years of cleaning. There are no markings on them, and the dog on the right has suffered some pretty major damage that has been repaired well. The smaller set is a reproduction of antique dogs, however, they have now aged out to be vintage.

The round stone dome candle holder is hand carved, and the owl is in blue, a rather unusual color to find it in. She is missing her right ear, but living in the wild can be rough.

The dragons are made of resin, and although not vintage but they are fascinating. It takes cone incense and all 5 dragon heads breathe fire.

The final is a ceramic stick incense holder in grey and light blue with a very small figurine sitting at the top of the piece.

Check out my Etsy store for these and other items!

Another week and another collection of unique items. The blue glass bowl is lovely, haven't found too much about this bowl, I believe it may be recycled glass in an irregular shape with Sealife in relief on the blue finish.

The pitcher is a rather unusual piece, Made by LoneSomeVille Pottery in Oregon, inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, this pitcher with its exaggerated stem handle has a lovely daisy pattern and the colors are incredible.

The pot is a Weller piece, cream colored with a pastel floral branch trickling down from one of the handles. The final little green dish with a lid was made by the Coors Porcelain Company of Golden Colorado, a company founded with the help of the Coors Brewing Company in 1915.

All of these items are available in my Etsy shop if they haven't been purchased yet!

Recycle Relove Finds for the Week. This week's pieces feature a cross that appears to be made from utensil handles, a piece of a conch belt, and a piece of turquoise. It's mounted on a piece of wood that has been painted red. I really like this piece, it speaks to me of the Southwest, an area in which I have spent a great deal of time.

The silver-tone bud vase is another nice piece, just in time for Valentine's Day. It's ceramic with a silver drip glaze covering the outside. Also featured is an old-fashioned salt dip. Before shakers, salt would be served in these little open dishes that contained a small spoon, You would "dip" the spoon in, use it to salt your food and then return the spoon to the open container.

And finally, how can you resist a zebra with a face like this? This little guy is ceramic and made in Japan, and has a red and silver sticker on his belly that says "Registered Coronet".

These items and others can be found in my Etsy store!

This time of year is filled with hustle and bustle, never enough time to get everything finished before the final day. I think I have finally caught up with myself and am taking time today to reflect on the past year and look forward to the new year.

There have been the usual trials and tribulations, but all in all, I am taking a moment to be thankful that all of my family is healthy and safe.

Merry Christmas to all!

Recycle Relove Finds of the Week: Oh dear, another trip down memory lane.

The original painting is titled "After the Bath" and was done by Paul Peel was done in 1890.

This print brought back memories of dressing in front of the fire at my grandmother's cottage in Boothbay Harbor Maine. It was a summer cottage, the only heat was the fireplace, and even in summer the mornings could be brisk.

Dad would start the fire and then call us kids to bring out our clothes and dress while Mother made blueberry pancakes.
