First, we collect and hold onto shells and urchin spines for a long time (sometimes years) just to find pairs that match in size, shape, quality, and color. And then we have to wash and polish the cowries. And then comes the nerve-wracking part, drilling them. Tim actually broke two of these rare cowries before successfully drilling clean holes into this pair, and putting a hole in those delicate spines without snapping them takes even more care.
So when I finally get to pull out all those hidden tones with beads, it feels like the best part :))
just a reminder, every pair of earrings we make is a true one of a kind. Even if someone asks for a remake, I’ll always change something. There will never be another set like this one!

We hear this at almost every market. Every time, our answer is the same: wear it today.

You wouldn’t think twice about leaving the house in gold hoops or a gold chain. Ask yourself why that is. Why are standard accessories considered normal for everyday life, while cultural jewelry gets saved for special occasions?

That exact thought is a huge reason why we started selling our jewelry here. We want to disrupt that status quo and build a space where you wear your heritage whenever and wherever you feel like it. Wear it to the office, to the grocery store, to the mall, or to a family gathering.
