Good morning to all my quilting friends. It has been a long while since I’ve made a post. The cold days of winter are behind us and I’m looking forward to summer and new projects. Some involving yard and garden and some involving new sewing projects.

I decided to join a block of the month from a local quilting store. Everyone knows flying geese are not my thing. Of course second block is lots of flying geese. Of course theirs a new ruler to make it perfect. I decided to try it even though the ruler is pricy. I think the pictures are pretty explanatory so won’t comment on each picture. The steps I’ve shared are for making four at a time which is rather easy. The tricky part is keeping in mind when you’re trimming with the new ruler use the steps for the Finished size of flying geese, not the unfinished size.

Good evening friends. Hope you have been enjoying the beautiful fall colors we have been experiencing. It is beginning to cool off here in southern Michigan, wind picking up and leaves falling. The weather man predicted our first snowfall for this coming Sunday, so if you guessed November 9th you could be right.

Tomorrow will be three weeks until Thanksgiving and seven weeks until Christmas. Just a reminder if you have a Christmas project you want quilted, please contact us by Saturday, November 8th.

Tonight I’m sharing a quilt we recently completed for a customer. The quilt was a block of the month from her favorite quilt shop. The purple and teal colors look gorgeous together and the print border accents the colors in the blocks. She chose a teal backing to complement this quilt. The quilting pattern was called “Wrap It Up”. She plans on keeping this quilt for herself to snuggle up with this winter.

Good afternoon to all our quilting friends. I’ve noticed the beautiful fall colors and the changing cooler days of fall in southern Michigan. What are your favorite fall activities, football games, hayrides, trick or treating, or raking leaves? Charlie Brown reminds us that “we shouldnt jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker.”

Today I’m highlighting two quits from a customer that we recently completed. The first one is the blue with the kittens in the center. The borders accent the colors in the kitten center to add interest to the overall quilt. She used the same dark blue for the backing.

The second quilt is wolves, horses and trees and the colors of blues, blacks and tans add to the wilderness theme. This is a wonderful quilt for a person that loves nature to wrap up in this winter. The customer chose a stippling or meander pattern for both quilts.

I mentioned in my earlier post about deadlines for your Christmas projects. If you have a project you need before Christmas, please contact us by Saturday, November 8th.

Good morning quilting friends

Happy first day of October. It doesn’t seem possible that it’s October already. The only remaining sign of summer are the warm days and a few tomatoes in my garden, and yes a lawn that still needs to be mowed.

I’ve been seeing the signs of fall as Ive been driving around. The cornfields are mostly tan, the farmers combining their beans and the trees changing color and leaves beginning to fall. Here in Southern Michigan at times we are able to see the Northern Lights which is a spectacular sight filled with pinks, purples and blues.

Instead of posting quilting pictures today I thought I’d share this quote. “Autumn represents a time to be inspired by natures shifting colors and to embrace the cozy season of stitching indoors”. My challenge for you is to embrace the colors of the season in your next project. I can’t wait to hear from you what you created.

The holidays are approaching and very soon I’ll be posting dates for Christmas projects.

Good morning fellow quilters. I have been contemplating the swift passage of summer and have come to the conclusion that it warrants a speeding ticket. I hope you have had an enjoyable summer.

We have been busy at the shop this summer Today I’ll share one of our projects that reflects on summer. This customer had a much loved comforter that the batting had become lumpy. The comforter was taken apart, batting replaced and then we straight line quilted. To give it a little different look the customer had us put binding on the edges.

I will share more projects in the coming days. It won’t be long until the holiday will be here. In the near future I’ll be posting dates for Christmas projects.

Happy May Day to all our quilting friends. I’m curious how many of you remember hanging May Baskets on your friends and relatives? It is something I have not done for many years. For those of you that haven’t heard of this, this is what we would do. Usually on the first day of May we would make a little basket, usually made of paper and a handle. We would put goodies in the basket, such as popcorn, gum, candy, flowers or whatever we had. After dark we would hang the basket on someone’s door, holler May Basket then go hide. They had to find us. It was fun!

A while back in one of my post I talked about edge to edge quilting and custom quilting. The quilt I’m showing today is a custom quilted quilt we recently completed. The blocks have quilt designs which are alternated every other block. Also the sashing and borders have different quilting. Notice how the design also showcases the back of the quilt. The back could turned to give the room a different look( also could be called whole cloth design)

Sometime soon I will talk about whole cloth quilting.

As a reminder, as prices of things are increasing such as groceries etc, at this time we are NOT increasing our quilting rates. Our price for edge to edge quilting remains at .015 per inch, semi custom at .02 cents per inch and custom quilting is .03-.05 depending on detail.

We also will make your quilt top for you, finish a ufo, t-shirt quilts etc.
