Occasionally you can find Nick and Dave taking a World Cruise at Shady Lawn… we sit outside, on the concrete deck, in sturdy antique chairs, and watch the World Cruise by us at Shady Lawn…

We keep thinking that someone will come by and serve us a frosty lemonade with a straw and a little umbrella in it. We are still waiting for the drink, but we have an extra chair that you can sit in and help us wait…

Dave is really enamored by this Hummingbird! It is featured on a British ‘Peek, Frean & Co.’ biscuit (cookie) tin.

He says that the image is great but perhaps the gently ‘patina-ed’ tin is even better! It evokes a warm nostalgia for a (long gone) time of sipping tea and nibbling crisp little cookies…

Nick totally restored this oak dresser and “rolled it into” the Shady Lawn sales area today.

This dresser dates to pre-1900. There are several ways to date it. The first is that the original mirror is dated 1898 (on the back).

The second is that the swivel hardware that holds the mirror to the wood bracket is dated 1884.

And finally the Cove and Pin drawer joints were used extensively in the 1870s. All of these “clues” add up to a dresser that was built prior to 1900!

The drawers are solid and slide easily. If you are on the hunt for a solid, fully functional, dresser this would be a great choice.

This awesome, late 1890s Victorian, quarter-sawn oak Parlor Table has been added to the ‘sales floor’ at Shady Lawn Antiques.

The table features a scalloped shaped top and shelf. It also has a serpentine curved skirt, at the top of the legs, immediately under the top.

Nick did an awesome job of repairing two legs by adding/splicing in vintage oak. FYI he removed a previous repair on one of the legs, that had been done with Balsa Wood, and rebuilt the repair with oak!

You may have heard quarter-sawn oak referred to as ‘Tiger Oak’. Several of the photos show how the grain of the oak resembles stripes on a Tiger.

If you are Thirsty (for an addition to your collection), on this Thursday evening, you are in luck… we just acquired a new inventory of Walla Walla area milk bottles!

These “farm fresh” bottles have been washed and have been filled with white pellets. The pellets help the Dairy Logos “show off” - but unfortunately the pellets are not as thirst quenching as ice-cold milk…

Fill up on milk bottles at Shady Lawn Antiques - we will be open tomorrow (Friday) and then we will be closed on Saturday - the 4th of July.

And yes the Walla Walla bottles would have been filled with milk at Shady Lawn, back in our Creamery Days…

Happy Thirsty Thursday from us at SL!

Nick Emigh is working hard in the Shady Lawn workshop. He has restored and rebuilt three pieces of furniture.

They have also been sanded and have new finish. Nick is in the process of re-assembling those pieces and they should be in the sales area by the end of the week.

Shady Lawn will be closed Saturday, the 4th of July.

We will be open Thursday and Friday from 10am to 5pm (this week).
