Style Origin: Mid-to-late 18th century.

Key Style Markers: The distinctive curved S-shape front legs are called cabriole legs, terminating in pad feet, which were trademark features of the Queen Anne and Chippendale eras.

Built to Trap Heat: The side wings weren't just decorative. They were engineered in 17th/18th-century Europe to protect the sitter from cold room drafts and capture heat from nearby fireplaces.
