Sundar & Frank Old saris, new adventures.

04/16/2026

Thread by thread, stitch by stitch. This is what it looks like when a sari gets a second life.

Started with scarves. ended up with a whole wardrobe situation.

I hate modeling. But I love this dress and just had to share it with you. Now I just need to wait for the weather to get warm enough to wear this outside.

Started with a sari. Ended up here. 🧵✨
The whole process in a few snips. Cutting, pinning, pressing, and then… pockets. Because of course there are pockets.
This fabric has been waiting for the right shape for a while. Something relaxed but intentional. A dress you throw on and immediately feel like yourself in.

After months of experimenting with different appliqué and embroidery methods, I finally found the one.

Scraps don't go to waste around here, they become patchwork pieces, pouches, and now? This.

Introducing the Patchwork Elephant. 🐘 Sari fabric appliqué on secondhand sweatshirts, jackets, tees, and tanks.

Athleisure, elevated.

Coming soon. 👀

I've always been drawn to lucurious patterns, textures, and color. In clothing and decor, which explains these pulled from my lampshade, bench, and wall art in my bedroom, all against muted basic tones for the wall and bed covers.

It's a lot like how I like to dress. One standout piece and some blue jeans.

This one layer pattern cutting is for the birds. First time I tried it because I want to get more precise with my sewing and working with slippery and wiggly materials is best cut in a single layer.

I always cut folded fabrics to get mirrored pieces, but this time I cut one front panel and then spent several minutes figuring out how to lay and cut the pattern piece to get the other front panel of this button up shirt cut.

Measure 15 times. Cut once. That's the whole lesson.

New button-down incoming. Eventually. Just as soon as I figure out the right way to cut this panel. 😂

I didn't start Sundar & Frank to launch a clothing brand.

I just wanted to do something creative with my hands and share fabrics that were too beautiful to sit in a closet. My mom handed me a few saris to "play with" and suggested the first thing I ever sold — scarves. I sold my first one at a market in October 2022 and thought, okay, maybe there's something here.

Three and a half years later I'm still learning. Still improving. And somewhere along the way I figured out my style: easy and luxurious. I like shiny things. I don't like effort. Turns out that's a whole design philosophy.

Swipe to see how it evolved. →

Basic tank. Favorite jeans. This duster. That's the whole style formula.

Sequins before noon. Beading on a Saturday. Mirror-work to the farmer's market.

Why save the beautiful things for special occasions?
Handmade from a pre-loved sari. One available, ready to ship. Link in bio.
