Delighted to share that Geddy’s Mom has been nominated for Canada’s Top 100 Small Businesses. 🇨🇦

A few things you may not know about us. Our founder is very proudly, and very loudly, Canadian. After launching Geddy’s Mom while living in the U.S., we’ve now brought the company home and recently established our headquarters in Toronto, where she grew up.

So yes, this one feels a little extra special.

We’re still a small business with big ambitions, building products around the hazards families actually face in homes today. Being recognized alongside other Canadian small businesses doing interesting things is a pretty great feeling.

Obviously, the founders of Geddy’s Mom, and the founders of Geddy (the boy), had to be at the Rush concert in Toronto. ❤️

A few things you may not know about our Geddy and his name.

We named our son after Sarah’s grandfather, Gedalia. But before our Geddy was born, Sarah lived close to Geddy Lee and would see him around the neighbourhood. He always exuded positivity and kindness. He was warm, welcoming to everyone and, of course, undeniably cool.

Those were traits we were pretty proud to associate with our son’s name.

There are also some remarkable parallels between Geddy Lee’s family’s journey to Canada and Sarah’s own family history. Stories of survival, immigration and building a new life here, with similarities that go right down to the ships that carried their families to Canada.

Sarah has always been a Rush fan, but it’s Geddy’s humanity and kindness that we’ve always appreciated most.

And while our Geddy is turning out to be pretty musically inclined himself, it’s that kindness we hope he emulates most.
