A little edge can change everything.

Edge profiles aren’t limited to the hearth. They can be incorporated throughout a mantel—from the shelf and returns to the plinths, inner moldings, and surrounding details.

A bullnose can soften a transition and create a more sculpted, contoured edge. Beveled profiles introduce crisp shadow lines and architectural definition. An ogee shelf feels refined and elegant, drawing inspiration from traditional millwork and classical detailing.

While often subtle, these details influence how light interacts with the stone and contribute significantly to the overall character of a fireplace.

It’s a reminder that thoughtful design is often found in the details.

As a small, founder-led studio, we intentionally remain selective in both the projects we take on and the way we work. We value craftsmanship, proportion, guidance, and architectural integrity over scale.

For nearly two centuries, the 1835 Farmhouse overlooking Aurora, New York remained the final major historic structure on the campus left untouched.

Now thoughtfully restored and expanded by , the Farmhouse has been reimagined as the property’s most luxurious and wellness-focused accommodation to date, balancing historic preservation.

For the dining area and premiere guest suites, Mantel House created a series of fireplaces inspired by early 19th century Federal style design. Mantel House reproduced both mantels from antique originals: one based on an antique Federal mantel from the Mantel House archive and fabricated in Carrara marble, and the other developed from one of the property’s existing antique fireplace structures in richly veined Portoro marble. Both were thoughtfully adapted for modern gas inserts.

and has adorned fireplace friezes for centuries.

Across time, it has carried a quiet language into architecture through its curves and perfect geometry.
