🩷🧶 HATS FOR HOPE IS COMING! 🧶🩷

What if one simple crochet hat could carry a little warmth, comfort and encouragement to someone affected by breast cancer?

This October, Hooked4U is bringing our crochet community together for Hats for Hope: Crochet for a Cause.

We're inviting beginners, experienced crocheters, friends, family and anyone who wants to make a difference to learn how to crochet a simple hat that can be donated to breast cancer survivors and supporters.

✨ No crochet experience? That's okay.
✨ Never made a hat? We'll teach you.
✨ Know how to crochet? Come help us make more!

Our goal is simple:
Learn. Crochet. Give. Repeat.
We're creating these hats in support of the 2026 DMV MORE THAN PINK Walk on October 10 at National Harbor.
🩷 One hat.
🩷 One stitch at a time.
🩷 One community making a difference.

The classes will be held at The Martin Luther King Jr Memorial Library in DC. Contact me for meeting room number.

History Isn’t Only Found in Textbooks

One of my favorite genres is historical fiction.

I love the way a good historical novel can take a moment in time and turn it into a living, breathing story. Instead of simply reading dates and facts, we get to meet the people, experience their struggles and triumphs, and imagine what life may have felt like during that time.

And when we read historical fiction by Black authors, we get the opportunity to discover stories and perspectives that may not always make it into the history books.

History can be found in our stories.
In our families.
In our communities.
In the voices of those who came before us.

That's one of the reasons I love books. They can open a door to a time and place we may never have experienced ourselves.

📖 So let's talk historical fiction!

Do you enjoy historical fiction?

What's your favorite historical fiction book by a Black author?

Drop your recommendation in the comments. I may just add it to my TBR list! 👀📚

And yes... I'll probably be crocheting while I read it. 🧶😉
