It's Dr. Katie Deming with an important message to share. I am not sure if many of you know, but last July, I left my radiation oncology practice of 16 years to focus on helping cancer patients heal on a deeper level through an integrative oncology practice.

As a result, I regret to announce the closure of MAKEMERRY. Although it's been a successful 8-year journey, our soft and beautiful bras will no longer be available for purchase after Friday, June 30th. Please place your final orders before then because our fulfillment center is closing its doors at 5pm PST.

The holidays are traditionally viewed as a time to celebrate. Its a time where most people enjoy reuniting with family and friends, it’s a time of exchanging gifts and doing traditions.

However, we know here at MAKEMERRY that when you’re dealing with cancer you may feel “out of it” from the rest of the world during the holidays.

Your attention is mainly on:

How do I take care of the holiday rush and myself at the same time?

How can I celebrate when I have so many other things on my mind?

What will my life be like next year?

Here are some basic tips we hope makes this holiday season easier:

Enjoy special moments. Easy to say, but try to focus on your small wins rather than on how cancer has changed a holiday or special occasion.

Be an innovative shopper or gift giver. Try online shopping this year. You can also make a gift of sharing your thoughts and feelings. Write a short note or make a phone call to let others know that you are thinking about them. Keep it simple.

Express your feelings. While it may feel challenging, remember that anything is possible. Tears can bring a sense of relief. Laughter can be relaxing. Sharing your feelings can be comforting. It is common to experience a mixture of anticipation, excitement and apprehension about the future.

Give yourself grace this season.
