To borrow some words from our new friend, Maria, because we couldn't say it better ourselves:
"It was my turn to get vaccinated today. It was emotional for me. Even though I work on the COVID-19 response, I often see the bird’s eye view. It was incredibly moving and meaningful to see it in real life. I feel humbled to have played a tiny role and incredibly grateful for all those Doing their part. It’s such a huge effort and involves so many moving pieces.
Thank you to all the nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients.
Thank you to the researchers who worked so hard to develop lifesaving vaccines.
Thank you to everyone involved in the vaccine distribution process – delivery truck drivers, those packing and unpacking supply and healthcare workers for administering vaccines.
Thank you to all those working towards an equitable vaccine distribution by engaging with communities, helping people find appointments or driving people to clinics.
And thank you to everyone I the clinic this morning and around the country for getting vaccinated.
We all have something to contribute to this effort. Get vaccinated -for yourself, for your family, your friends, your community.
