For the longest time, I felt like I’ve been floundering.
Being a business owner is amazing. Definitely has its perks. I can set my own hours and work as much as I’d like.
Being a business owner also has its drawbacks. If I’m not working, I’m not getting paid. Being a boutique owner on top of my 8-5 is a LOT of WORK and a LOT of TIME. Posting items, sending invoices, receiving items, shipping them, all the things.
I’ve dabbled in a few different areas, looking for the right fit. Along the way, I found a lot of what I didn’t want.
I knew I didn’t want to exchange more time for money. I’m already away from my kids as much as I’d like to be. I want to be home and present for them.
I knew I didn’t want to be part of a business that reset progress every month. I would work hard for 4 weeks just to fall back to 0 at the first of every month - talk about frustrating.
I knew I wanted to be compensated well for my time. I give 110% in everything I do. Working my tail off for a month just to pull a small amount of profit is not sustainable long term. Talk about burn out!
I found a way to bring in good money whether I’m at home or on vacation. I found something that doesn’t reset every month.
I found something that doesn’t require me to sell to family or friends/reach out to strangers. I found a community of amazing people who want to see me succeed. I found something I can leave to my kids so they don’t go through this.
I have direction, I have purpose, I have more drive than I’ve ever had before.
Taking this jump was one of the toughest decisions I ever had to make. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have no regrets and I’m excited to see where I go from here.
If you’ve spent your life figuring out what you don’t want, view that as something positive. Maybe what I’ve found is your answer too.
If fear is holding you back, have a brave moment. You never know if you never ask.
