To the girl with pink hair who’s been in a few times this week, I hope you follow us, or at least hope one of the people who visits with you follows us and sees this

Today was my first day off in a WHILE. After your group left, it was noticed by my employee that a higher priced pokemon card was missing. Unfortunately for you, the display had JUST been restocked 20 minutes before you arrived, fortunately for me, that meant I only had to watch about 40 minutes worth of camera footage to find the clip where you had been holding it for a while, and then securely tucked it behind your phone. But to be safe, I kept watching the footage until you left the store waiting to see if it would be put back/put down somewhere, and well, it wasn’t.

So I’m not going to put your picture on the internet. I’m not going to attempt to press charges (even though I could), but I am going to ensure that you know you’re not welcome back in my store. So I’m hoping you see this and the message is heard loud and clear to save you the embarrassment of me having to kick you out of the store in person in front of other customers.

Even when you think we don’t know/notice, we do. And I will spend hours watching camera footage every time I need to in order to ensure that I’m protecting my vendors and my livelihood that feeds my family. Don’t steal from small businesses. It’s actually one of the sh*ttiest things you can do

The man behind the mural ✨ Robert Bouters

Before this facelift even began, I knew I wanted to redo the mural wall, and knew I wanted a street art inspired feel. Then along came Bobby. A California native, and long time street artist who’s recently planted roots in Maine. The rest wasn’t history, because now it’s on display for all of you to see every time you visit the store

What started as just the main mural wall, turned in to a ‘hey can I doodle on the white wall while I wait for paint to dry since you plan on painting over it anyways?’ and then one morning I walk in to see the now PERFECT black hieroglyphic inspired wall which I instantly fell in love with and knew I could never paint over. Which then turned in to a second symbol wall and other fun little surprises I just never stopped coming in to but made my heart feel so grateful that out of all the artists I could have picked, I somehow managed to pick the BEST possible one that went so above and beyond to help me make my visions a reality 💖

200 CDs, 113,200 disco tiles, 99 record sleeves, countless hours of painting, and multiple near death ladder experiences that DEFINITELY weren’t OSHA approved, and the original store entrance is finally opening back up TODAY, and now also finally fits the store vibe (maybe it’s even cooler than the store honestly, but we will work on that)

If you forgot what the before was like (because after the last 1.5 months I sure did) swipe to the end for a before video ✨ (I truly cannot believe I ever allowed such a boring ugly space in my store but so glad that era is now behind us)

It’s no secret that I LOVE being able to contribute to our community. When I started building out the idea of an event venue, I knew that I wanted to incorporate no cost options for special community events. When Chelsea and Rowan stopped in last week to chat with me about building out Rainbow Closet in the central Maine area and holding events to encourage a safe/social life for the LGBTQ+ community (makers markets, clothing swaps, mixers, and more) it was a no brainer and an immediate ‘yes I’m in!’

The venue isn’t ~quite~ ready for open, but stay tuned for an open house event coming soon 💖

All you need to bring is yourself, we’ve got the rest covered 💖 no experience or art skills required, just a little bit of creativity (but there will be prompts and guidance available as well)
