👕 T-SHIRT TRIVIA!

We print them every day, but have you ever wondered what the “T” in T-shirt actually stands for?

T-shirts started as lightweight undershirts in the early 1900s before becoming the everyday clothing staple we know today. And the answer is surprisingly simple:

The “T” doesn’t technically stand for a word. It describes the shirt’s shape! Lay one flat with the sleeves stretched out, and it looks like a capital T.

Some common guesses are:

🏃🏼 Training shirt
⛳ Tee shirt, like a golf tee
🍵 Tea shirt or shirts worn by tea workers
🎾 Tennis shirt

But nope, it’s just shaped like a T!
