Oh dad was a LRRP? That's cool, I had no idea what that meant.

And in my mind as a kid - everyone who was in Vietnam just hung out in the jungle on missions. Hell, even as an adult I thought that. Dad always said he was a Ranger and was very open about his time in country.

It wasn't until my dad passed away and I was sorting through his things that I find something that explained he was part of the LRRPs (Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol) When I connected the dot's I realized the weight that carried.

If you aren't sure what that means - let me fill you in.

These were 6-man teams that went out on unrecorded missions to assess.
They moved in secrecy.
They moved quietly.
And they were total badasses.

And yes, this is the infamous lighter that went viral on my TT years ago.

In honor of Memorial Day, let's bring back the Dad series.

If you are new around here - my TT popped off around 6 years ago when I started sharing piece's of my Dad after his passing.

From the braille Pl***oy to his Zippo Lighter that got hit with a b*llet during the Vietnam War.

The old man lived a colorful, chaotic life with a lot of adventures - some more fun than others.

And while he may have struggled to adapt to a normal society life post-war, he was one hell of a soldier who documented his time in country.

Is it for the kids? Yes.
But it's also for me.

These solar lamp posts are on point when it comes to staying lit - legit from dusk to dawn!

They stand about 63" tall, easy to stake in to the ground, and are an instant glow up for any outdoor space.

Especially if you are like me and don't have electric to all parts of your property.

Now the real question - do I put some out at the Hoarding Uncle's property for him?

There's no sugar coating it. He has a lot of s**t around this place.

And he is in no hurry to take care of any of it.

It's a lot of:

"I have a project in mind for that..."
"The rest of that tractor is in the barn..."
"It did work, but I need time to get to it..."

And heavy on the
"No, you can't take a tractor home with you"
"Not selling a single motorcycle..."
"I want to keep that"

But every so often he lets me take a tote of random goods home.
And he always lets me wander, dig, and play on the property.
