Friday Fun Fact! ๐Ÿฆˆ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

The cornea is one of the most important parts of your eye. It's the clear, protective front layer that helps focus light so you can see clearly.

Interestingly, shark corneas are structurally so similar to ours that researchers have studied them as a potential resource for corneal transplants and eye surgery. ๐Ÿ‘€

Ever noticed a raised, fleshy growth on the white of the eye? That could be a pterygium - a benign (noncancerous) growth that can extend onto the cornea and, over time, affect vision if left unchecked.

Common causes include:
โ˜€๏ธ Prolonged UV exposure
๐Ÿ’จ Wind and dust
๐Ÿœ๏ธ Dry environments

Mild cases may just need monitoring, but if it starts affecting your vision or comfort, treatment options are available. If you've noticed changes in your eyes, don't wait - schedule an exam with your eye doctor.

Whether you're hiking through the mountains, chasing sunrise on backcountry trails, or taking in wide-open wilderness views, your contacts should keep up with your adventures - not slow you down. But the outdoors comes with its own set of challenges for lens wearers, and a little extra care goes a long way.

This week, we're sharing a few reminders for our outdoor-loving community:
โœ… Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before handling your lenses - even on the trail
โœ… Never sleep in daily-wear contacts, even after a long day outside
โœ… Replace lenses and lens cases on schedule, especially after exposure to dust, wind, or sweat
โœ… Keep water away from your contacts - no rinsing in lakes, rivers, or streams
โœ… Pack a backup pair of glasses or lenses for extended trips off the grid
โœ… Don't skip your annual eye exam, even if your vision feels unchanged

Fresh air and big views are good for the soul - but sun, wind, dust, and altitude can all take a toll on your eyes. A few smart habits can help prevent irritation, dryness, and infection, so you can keep exploring comfortably.

If it's been a while since your last check-up, there's no better time than Contact Lens Health Week to schedule one. Our team is here to help you see clearly, wherever your next adventure takes you.

Back-to-school season means new backpacks, new schedules ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿ“š - and a great time to think about your child's eyes, too.

Did you know contact lenses aren't just for adults? Myopia (nearsightedness) is on the rise in kids, and it doesn't just mean blurrier distance vision - it can increase future risk of serious eye conditions if left unmanaged.

That's where MiSightยฎ comes in: the first FDA-approved contact lens clinically proven to slow the progression of myopia in children. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ“… Ask us if MiSight could be right for your child at their next visit.

Contact Lens Replacement: A Key to Healthy, Happy Eyes๐Ÿ‘๏ธโœจ

Replacing your contact lenses on schedule is an important part of maintaining healthy eyes and comfortable vision. Keep these tips in mind:

๐Ÿ“… Stick to Your Replacement Schedule
Whether you wear daily, bi-weekly, or monthly lenses, always replace them as directed by your eye care provider.

โฐ Set Reminders
Life gets busy. Use your phone or calendar to remind you when it's time to open a new pair.

๐Ÿ‘€ Pay Attention to Your Eyes
Redness, irritation, discomfort, or blurry vision may be signs that your lenses need to be replaced-or that it's time to contact your eye doctor.

๐Ÿ˜ด Never Sleep in Lenses Unless Approved
Unless specifically prescribed, avoid sleeping in your contact lenses to reduce your risk of eye infections.

Healthy contact lens habits help protect your vision and keep your eyes feeling their best!
