Phew! What a day! Janelle and I headed North this morning to Maquoketa for an estate sale. I’m not an early bird while Janelle is 🦜☀️ It was all worth it though!!! 4 generations of gathered history all in one house. My pile kept growing and growing. 🤗 Janelle found this amazing wicker chair, that I’m pretty sure she’s going to keep. She should! As I went to hang up my latest Junkstock vendor lanyard in my office, I was overcome with emotion. My eyes swelled up with tears and my heart sighed.

Over the past 15 years I’ve done many shows. I’ve met many people. I’ve formed lifelong friendships. Yet somehow I never truly felt like I belonged. That wasn’t till now.

Junkstock is more than just a show. It’s a group of people with amazing hearts & crazy ideas who come together to celebrate each other. There’s no competition. Crowns are adjusted daily. Encouragement is given even in the darkest of moments. ❤️

Junkstock is where I feel at home. Three years ago, Sara invited me to be apart of her show. I was really hesitant as I just had set the show life on the shelf a few years back. I was comfortable in the shop yet my heart longed for something new. So I said yes, I’ll come see what it’s about. That first Spring something shifted in me. I began to know who I was as an artist, a designer, and a person. I felt at home. ❤️

I’ve never felt so loved, valued, encouraged & protected. Junkstock is truly my family. ❤️

So it’s only natural as I hung my lanyard up, that the emotion surfaced. That I reflected on that moment, three years ago, not knowing that a simple yes would change the course of my life.
