We wanted to give you an update on what happened at Harley Rendezvous on June 26th.
We parked the Grim Bus exactly where instructed by the venue owner—the same spot we used last year. We set up with 25 feet of space behind the bus and plugged into the power source as directed.
That night just after 10PM, a member of the Goon Squad backed an ATV into that space. When he had to leave in a hurry to stop someone doing burnouts, he ran over our power cord. The cord wrapped around his rear axle and yanked our X-Tool P2 right off the countertop inside the bus. Catastrophic damage.
We couldn't do any hat business that weekend (and still can't) and had to refund $540 in custom work. We've been in limbo since. That's 11 full days of lost business income so far.
We filed a claim with the other party's insurance. They denied it, claiming the cord was placed where anyone could run it over. We respectfully disagree—we parked and set up exactly as instructed, with proper spacing behind the bus.
Here's the financial reality: we're covering the cost of repairing our X-Tool P2 out of pocket (parts on order). We also purchased a new X-Tool P3 to get back up and running—that machine cost us over $8,200. Combined, this has cost us well over $10,000.
We're working through the insurance process and grateful to the Harley Rendezvous team and Tom for everything they do. We understand accidents happen. We're committed to catching up with all the orders that got backed up.
