Now I’d like to introduce the face of Egyptian Cotton.

Meet Kierstin Alexa.

Long before she became the cover model for this novel, she was a little girl with big dreams and an even bigger smile. Through the years, I’ve had the privilege of watching her blossom—from teething to talking, from crawling to walking—to becoming a Florida A&M University graduate and an incredible young woman.

She has been in front of a camera for as long as I can remember, so when it came time to choose the face of Egyptian Cotton, the choice felt natural.

What started as an idea for a novel became something much more meaningful when it became a family project. And having my daughter become the face of a story that I’ve poured so much into made it even more special.

As a father, there are few things more rewarding than watching your children grow, chase their dreams, and succeed. As an author, there is no greater honor than having my daughter help bring this vision to life.

Meet K.B. From McKenzie’s POV.

I knew K.B. was trouble the moment he walked into my life.
Not because he was loud. He wasn’t.
Not because he demanded attention. He didn’t.
It was the opposite.
K.B. carried himself with a quiet confidence.
He listened more than he spoke. Observed more than he reacted.
And somehow, that made him impossible to ignore.

And yes… it didn’t help that he looked like he belonged on the cover of a magazine. A tailored suit fit him like it had been made just for him, and that smile—those dimples—should’ve come with a warning label.

But what unsettled me most wasn’t what I saw.
It was what I felt when he was near.
A shift in the air. A pull I couldn’t quite name. The kind that made me aware of every step he took, every glance he held a second too long.

He was steady. Intentional.
The kind of man who showed up without needing to announce himself. The kind who made you feel safe enough to lower your guard… and dangerous enough to want to keep it up anyway.

He challenged me without trying. Saw through my excuses without effort. And somehow, he made “enough” feel like something I’d never truly had.

Most people saw the polished exterior.
I saw the man underneath.
And that was the real problem.
Because I wasn’t supposed to notice the way my breath changed when he was near. I wasn’t supposed to feel the heat of his attention like it lingered on my skin long after he looked away. I definitely wasn’t supposed to want him the way I did.

Meet K.B.— the man who caught my eye, captured my attention, and slowly claimed my heart.

Some characters are created to move a story forward. McKenzie was created to remind you that surviving isn’t the same as living.

Every love story has characters who shape the journey.

Before readers meet all the people who influence K.B. and McKenzie’s relationship, I’d like to introduce one of the most important little people in the novel. Meet Lil Jax.

At just five years old, he doesn’t know anything about McKenzie’s past mistakes, public whispers, or painful memories.
To him, she’s simply Tee-Tee Kenzie.

Here’s a small excerpt from Chapter 3...

In the middle of her slow rebuild, one beam of light cuts through the shadows—Jaxson, whom she adorably refers to as Lil Jax, her five-year-old nephew with a snaggle-toothed grin and endless energy. When he barrels into her room, McKenzie forgets the whispers. She forgets that night. She forgets the ache in her chest.

Lil Jax doesn’t care about who she used to be. He only sees tee-tee Kenzie—the best tickle monster in the world, a snack-time champion, and the creator of the most legendary bedtime stories.
