Sew...Happy August! Where has this summer gone?! Where have I been? What have I been up to, you ask? Well... it's been the proverbial one step forward - two steps back π. Let's start with the leak around the fan/vent in my downstairs bathroom. Taking out the unit to investigate necessitated removing a portion of the ceiling, of course. We determined the leak was coming from the upstairs bathroom - just not sure where. Oh, and because it had been going on for s-o-o long the wood had rotted and carpenter π decided living in my ceiling was a great gig π€¬. So, next comes the exterminator, which now requires additional time to send those little buggers packing. Ok, next it's time to figure out the origin of the blasted leak. Off comes the toilet. Yep. That was it and it had been going on for months? Years? No clue! Next, in comes the plumber. The fl**ge needs replacing but nothing can be done until the wood dries and the rotted wood is replaced, which will require ripping up some of my upstairs bathroom floor and removing more of my downstairs bathroom ceiling. Are you laughing yet because this is now comical!
Oh, wait - I'm not done yet! All of the work that was done in my basement quilt studio was to prevent water from coming in...yep, guess what I discovered last week...all along my outside wall... where I stored shipping boxes, batting, pillow forms - you know, the stuff that soaks up water? It's about now that I've reached my breaking point.
Due to The Hubs work schedule and mine, our investigative and repair work can only be done on the weekends. So, I continue to have a gaping hole in my downstairs bathroom ceiling, a missing commode and hole in my upstairs bathroom, and a mysterious leak in my studio that might require part of my wall to be removed. BUT - it's OK. (Well, not really π) My problems are solvable, albeit not immediately. I can function in my home. I've put my studio back together - and I even found my missing 120" tape measure! I've rearranged things in my studio and am VERY thankful no damage was done to my longarm. Don't forget, water and electricity do not mix and batting can be replaced lol
So, what's my moral to this mess? I am fortunate that I have a home that keeps me safe; that I have the capability to make these repairs - even if they can only be handled on the weekends. And that I've given myself the moments I have needed to be angry (VERY angry) and the time I've needed to figure out solutions. So, that's what been going on since the first weekend of July. What a roller-coaster π³π€£
Now, here's an update on my new QC guy π He's 16 weeks old today and weighs in at a whopping 36.5 #! He's found his space within our family π He's living his best life!
