If you guessed ✨GOLD✨ a little while back… you were correct!

This beautiful vintage Hollywood Regency style faux bamboo chandelier was salvaged from FB Marketplace by our client and she had a vision😍

After cleaning and lightly sanding, it’s first gold was a gold spray to help cover all the little tight spots💫 then I rubbed a gold leaf wax alllll over to give it a richer color tone and coverage.

Can’t wait to see it hung up and glowing!

Restoration projects are no joke 🥵

It sounds so easy when I explain: clean it, strip it, scrape it, scrub it, sand it, stain it, seal it… you’re like okay cool…

But it’s so much work — labor intensive & beyond. And not every finish lifts the same. Some are really stubborn and the strip it, scrape it part has to be done 2 or 3 times😱

So here’s a little tidbit of me stripping an 1800s front door from an East Marion home🚪 the house painter didn’t do such a great job so we’re fixing it…

And decided to do the interior also; which was many many many many many many coats of thick white paint!

Same piece, totallllly different look😍

This cherry chest from Ethan Allen had a black painted factory finish with the rest stained a very orange tone… our client wanted something lighter and fresh.

It’s always a mental challenge at first - the alchemy of changing wood tones to be something that naturally, they aren’t.

Cherry wood, also mahogany, are very warm toned woods and “washing” their warmth out is an interesting process.

For this one, we did a few layers of a very thin paint wash (watered down paint) to dull the tannins and create a new tone. Followed by stain to add some depth back into the grains.

Then we sealed with a matte finish to reduce shine and keep it looking natural🪄

A little reminder that paint can transform what you have, without buying something new✨

Our clients had this piece for many years, under their TV in their sitting room… the warm orange-y wood was clashing with the other details and they wanted a change🤍

Shopping new often means accepting a lesser quality or paying more than you need to for something sturdy… sooo we refinished this very solid, VERY heavy piece in Benjamin Moore Super White🪄

The whole space feels brighter, lighter and more enjoyable🤗

And they support a small local business while reusing what they had! Can’t beat it🫶🏼

This vintage record player went back home today and is just about ready to play some tunes🤎🎶

Originally belonging to our clients parents, it danced too hard, broke a leg and was balancing on a bowl — literally … dad helped us out with a foot repair. I then thoroughly cleaned the interior and stripped the exterior… sanded, stained and sealed. Polished the k***s up. And installed new vintage style woven acoustic speaker cloth😍

Very excited for this piece to be saved and records to be played!

Not every kitchen needs a full gut and tens of thousands of dollars spent…

This client didn’t have an issue with her countertop or the backsplash but she was tired of the red cabinets… so we prepped everything very thoroughly - sanded and degreased - two coats of primer and then paint…

Goodbye red - HELLO new kitchen!👏🏼
And we updated the k***s to a new style…

💭By refinishing your current cabinets (instead of purchasing all new ones) it can leave enough in the budget for additional updates, like counters and backsplash!

We have one cabinet project scheduled for the fall/winter season… and room for a couple more! So get in touch if you’re thinking about it before those spots fill up!

Surrounded by bottles😂 still… haha…

Finishing up a few furniture projects — just waiting for some things I had to order … fabric for a vintage record player restoration, rubber plugs for that chandelier… and got the approval on sealing an oak piece natural.

Next up - restoring an antique front door from an East Marion home😍 stay tuned!
