Fabric and batting have gone up considerably! For those of us in the business of quilting your quilts, so has utilities and insurance (IF we can get it!) In WA, minimum wage is now $16.66/hour for unskilled labor with no overhead, no investment and no responsibility!
I've raised my rates once in 18 years - from .015 per square inch to .020, and that was close to 8 years ago that I made that increase. No matter where you take your quilts to be quilted, don't be surprised if the prices go up. Sorry! It's what we have to do to stay in business and support our families, just like everyone else!

When I was at the Odessa Quilt Show this year as the Featured Quilter, I was approached about submitting this quilt into this show. She's freshly blocked after a rinse (I was very happy how clean the water was!!). Yes, she's now 9 years old, and I thought long past her show time, so this year has been very good for the Rescued Hexi.

So....If your longarmer were to give you something like this to attach to your label on your quilt, what should it say? Maybe leave out the "Stitched by" part? Would you use it? Love it? Hate it?

Downtown North in Wilbur WA (the building housing WRS) is now ready for quilting classes and retreats! IF you want to get information about upcoming events, please send a message with your email and I'll add you to the list. This facility does not have a space for you to stay, so I'm currently checking with the local motels and RV parks to get an idea of prices.

Downtown North has been designed for quilters by a quilter. There's lots of power, and it's been set up so that your sewing machine and your irons will be on separate circuits.
