Little Gilly Quilts will be offering 4 separate weeklong T-Shirt Quilt Camp sessions this summer for kids 8 years old and up here at my studio on Henderson RD/Williamstown. Students can bring 10-15 t-shirts/sweatshirts to transform and customize into a unique, one-of-a-kind quilty masterpiece T-Shirt Quilt! The finished TSQ will be in the Throw-size range (approximately 50" x 50"). This will be a terrific way to Recycle & Repurpose their personal collection of t-shirts & sweatshirts that no longer fit them! 🙌🏻

The materials fee will be $250, which will cover ALL of the other materials necessary to finish the quilt, including the fabric for the backing, binding, cotton batting (fluffy middle part), thread, and the machine quilting on the specialized Bernina Longarm sewing machine--all of which is provided here at my studio.

Students will receive one-on-one instruction on how to properly CUT their shirts, PUZZLE them into a custom layout, and PIECE them together as they learn basic sewing machine skills. Half-day and Full-day slots will be available: 8:30am - 12:30pm and 1pm - 5pm. Maximum of 3 students per day. Snacks will be provided to all students, and a nutritious lunch will be provided for all Full-day students.

Half-day tuition is $400 ($20 per hour x 4 hours / $80 per day)
Full-day tuition is $800 ($20 per hour x 8 hours / $160 per day)
Note: Full-day students will likely have time to complete another smaller project TBD--probably a small pillow using leftover t-shirt remnants.

Session 1: June 24-28
Session 2: July 22-26
Session 3: August 12-16
Session 4: August 19-23

About to load this behemoth of a King-size Harley-Davidson T-Shirt Quilt! Wish me luck as it’s just barely fitting onto my 13-foot BQ24 frame. Lol 🤞🤞

The client sent me 51 t-shirts, and requested that all 71 graphics be incorporated into this TSQ, which he is gifting to his very best friend and fellow biker dude. What a great friend he is indeed! So much fun to see all the various locations they’ve visited across the globe together. I still ended up with 4 large graphics leftover, which I plan to make into an over-sized (European square) pillow cover. This is an “unstabilized” TSQ, my favorite kind to make. The client selected “Bauhaus” from Urban Elementz as his E2E panto design, and we’ll be using Glide 40wt “Silver Grey” up top (@2.5), and MagnaGlide Classic 60wt in the bobbin (@220). I use a Universal Pro 100/16 needle on most all my TSQs as it can be counted on to go through all those thick rubbery/vinyl graphics with ease. 😊 The batting is Quilters Dream 80/20, and the backing (minus the strip of t-shirts) is Grunge “Fandango” by Moda.
