Loss is something we all face. The grief of losing a family pet is something I’m all to familiar with. I’ve learned the importance of being in the room, of holding on so they can pass safely into the next realm of existence. Our body is but atoms moving so quickly. All the same but so different.
Reconciling, knowing that this was their time and understanding how fortunate I’ve been to know so much love. It never gets easier. Just remember the joy they gave and the pains that plagued their bodies on earth are gone. Embrace the wild, all creatures deserve grace. Please do something kind today. Your heart will thank you.

Colleen was not my dog but I walked her 3 days a week which included much negotiation and patience. On Saturday morning she let out her last sigh on my arm as I lay next to her, exhausted from the storm, and her anxiety. It was rare for her to allow a cuddle but her tummy was grumbling and I thought maybe it was just gas…she trusted me enough to be there in a her final moments. We were a lot alike: stubborn, salty, treats over nutrition, and an occasional rant for good measure. I’m grateful to have known such love. She is giving them heck in heaven for sure. ♥️♥️♥️
