People starting to ask me why did i choose to use the big rooster as part of my clothing. Well for me it's a part of old Wilson history, and it connects directly with the “Wide-Awake Wilson” identity. Wilson has been historically known by several promotional names, especially “Wide-Awake Wilson” and “The World’s Greatest To***co Market.” During Wilson’s to***co-market era, the city became one of the major to***co trading centers in the region.
A historical description of Wilson specifically remembers that the city “used to have a big rooster on top of the water tower off I-95,” in connection with the Wide-Awake Wilson nickname.
Why a rooster?
The rooster makes sense as the visual symbol for “Wide Awake.” A rooster traditionally announces the beginning of the day—awake early, alert, up before everyone else. So Wilson's rooster effectively represented the idea:
WIDE-AWAKE WILSON → ROOSTER → UP EARLY / ALERT / READY / WORKING
