This Memorial Day, we honor those who gave everything in service to our country.

From the Stones Design team, we’re grateful. Today and every day.

𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰 — 𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭. 👀

Coffee maker, mail pile, fruit bowl, homework, mystery charger… whatever’s there, it counts.

Here’s why I’m asking: the stuff that piles up usually tells me exactly where the kitchen layout is fighting real life. And the fix is rarely “just declutter.”

Drop your counter photo in the comments — first 10 get one real design tip from me.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐇𝐮𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐲! 🤗

If you’ve ever worked with a designer who helped you see your own home in a completely new way, talked you out of a decision you would have regretted, or turned a room you avoided into one you love — today’s the day to let them know.

A virtual hug counts. So does a referral. 😉

From the Stones Design team — we’re grateful for every homeowner across Central Florida who’s trusted us with their space. It’s the best job in the world.

Happy Hug Your Interior Designer Day to all our fellow designers out there!

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥.

It might just be working against you.

A kitchen can feel cramped when there’s no island, the cabinets are dark, or the space feels closed off from the rest of the home.

The good news? The fix isn’t always a full renovation. Sometimes one thoughtful change can make the room feel brighter, easier, and more connected.

Does your kitchen feel too small or awkward to use?

This Central Florida bedroom had beautiful details, but the overall feeling was heavy and enclosed. We softened the walls, removed the gold drapes, simplified the bedding, and brought in lighter, cleaner pieces.

Now the room feels calm, open, and restful — exactly what a bedroom should feel like.

Thinking about refreshing a room in your home? I’ll share the consultation link in the comments.

I see this often in Central Florida homes: dark furniture, heavy curtains, busy wallpaper, too many bedding layers, and not enough natural light.

None of those things are “wrong” on their own. But together, they can make a bedroom feel darker, smaller, and less restful.

A bedroom should help you exhale at the end of the day.

Start by asking:

Does the room feel calm?
Is there enough natural light?
Is the bedding comfortable or just decorative?
Does the furniture fit the space?

Small changes can make a big difference.

Does your bedroom feel restful, or does it drain your energy?

More in the first comment.

A bathroom vanity should do two things: look beautiful and make everyday routines easier.

This primary bathroom was designed with exactly that in mind.

The L-shaped layout gives each person their own space — separate mirrors, separate lighting, separate counter areas. No crowding, no overlap.

Warm natural wood cabinetry against a darker accent wall adds depth, while brass-framed mirrors and crystal pendants bring just enough polish without feeling formal.

Every decision in this room was based on how the homeowners actually live.

I added the booking link in the first comment if you're planning something similar for your home. ✨

“𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐦𝐢𝐱 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦?”

Brushed gold faucet. Chrome towel bar. Matte black shower fixtures.

Yes — they can absolutely work together. Just not randomly.

I typically follow a simple 60/30/10 approach:

• 60% dominant metal (main fixtures)

• 30% secondary (lighting or mirrors)

• 10% accent (a contrasting detail)

In Florida homes, finish choice also affects maintenance. Brushed and satin finishes tend to hide water spots better in our humidity than polished metals.

And the biggest rule to break?

Matching everything exactly. Bathrooms with thoughtfully mixed metals feel designed — not assembled from a catalog.

I shared how I help clients choose combinations that work together in the first comment below.

The spa bathroom trend is real — but it’s not about adding a rain showerhead and calling it luxury. It’s about materials that feel different under your feet, lighting that shifts with your mood, and fixtures placed with intention.

A few things that separate a functional bathroom from one that feels like a retreat:

Honed marble is warm underfoot. Polished tile is cold. That difference matters first thing in the morning.

One overhead light makes every bathroom feel clinical. Layer your lighting — sconces at eye level, dimmable overheads, natural light through frosted glass.

A freestanding tub should be the anchor of the room, not an afterthought squeezed into a corner.

I shared more in the comments — including the bathroom budget question almost every client asks before starting a renovation.
