First, I just want to say thank you to The Dispatch for taking the time to do a story on our little boutique. It truly means so much to us. Looking back at where we started with our mobile boutique, it’s hard to believe we’re now getting ready to open our second storefront. We’re beyond grateful for every single person who has supported us along the way.
And… this is officially our grand opening announcement! 🎉
We’ll be celebrating our Midway location on Saturday, August 29th, and we seriously cannot wait to welcome you all through the doors. It still doesn’t feel real, and we’re counting down the days until we get to celebrate this exciting milestone with our amazing community.

“Just six years ago, Meadow Helmer was an 18-year-old high school graduate with a dream, a mobile trailer and a vision of bringing affordable fashion to local shoppers. Today, that dream is growing again as Magnolia Boutique prepares to open its second standalone store in Midway.
The new boutique will be at 11362 Old Highway 52, nestled between the new Cagney's restaurant and the new Midway Veterinary Clinic in the former Davidson Eye Associates building. The expansion marks another milestone for a business that began as a mobile boutique operating out of a trailer in 2020.
Magnolia Boutique's grand opening in Midway is scheduled for Aug. 29, and Helmer encourages the public to follow Magnolia Mobile Boutique on social media for updates on food trucks and special promotions and other activities planned for the celebration. She, family members and a contractor are transforming the former eye doctor clinic into a boutique with fresh paint, refinished floors and more.
Helmer opened Magnolia Boutique's first standalone store on April 29, 2023, in Wallburg. Since then, the business has experienced rapid growth, creating a loyal customer base and convincing Helmer that more space was needed to continue serving shoppers.
"We were looking for more space and a way to expand," Helmer said. "We grew quickly in Wallburg and are doing great, but we just needed more space. While I wasn't looking for a second location, this just fell into place."
The opportunity came unexpectedly.
"My mom sent me the listing, and at first I was like, 'No, I don't think this will work,'" she said. "But I came and saw the area and building, and I loved it."
What Helmer didn't realize until she toured the property was that the purchase included more than just the building itself. Along with it came an adjoining lot to the right of the store. Currently, the neighboring property contains an old mobile unit and was once used for used car sales. Helmer plans to remove some of the trees and shrubbery separating the two lots, creating one larger, more usable space. The additional property will serve several purposes, including expanded parking for customers and room for special events.
"I want to do things and be a part of this community," Helmer said. "I'll have space for food trucks and outdoor vendors. We could do holiday events and special pop-ups. In the back we could do Easter egg hunts and other holiday fun stuff."
For Helmer, Davidson County has become more than just a place to do business. While she got her start in Guilford County after graduating from Page High School, Davidson County is now home. She lives just two to three minutes from the new Midway store and sees the expansion as an opportunity to deepen her roots in the community.
Meadow Helmer, along with family members and contractors, spent recent weeks renovating and transforming the former Davidson Eye Associates building into a boutique shopping destination ahead of its Aug. 29 grand opening.
The new store will also allow Magnolia Boutique to broaden its offerings.
Among the additions will be Magnolia Sprouts, a children's clothing business owned by Helmer's mother. Once the Midway store opens, Magnolia Sprouts will move in there, while Posh Bee, a children's clothing and accessory business, will remain where it has been operating inside Magnolia's Wallburg store and at Evenbrooke Marketplace in Lexington.
Helmer said she wants each store to maintain its own identity.
"I'm excited to bring more here so these small businesses can grow and have an audience," she said. "I want the two stores to be different. I want people to have a reason to shop both stores."
That vision extends beyond clothing racks and accessories. With ample space available in the Midway store, Helmer plans to lease areas to local entrepreneurs selling homemade baked goods, handmade candles, party dips, pottery, decorated stainless steel cups, body care products, home décor and other specialty items. The goal, she said, is to create a destination where shoppers can discover a variety of local products while supporting small businesses.
The Midway store also has a large, four-room section that Helmer hopes to transform into a mini-spa environment. Plans call for renting suites to a hairstylist, nail technician, esthetician and massage therapist.
"Midway doesn't have much like this here. This will be a place where people can come shop and then go and pamper themselves with hair styling and nails and massage or a facial," she said. "I hope our businesses will be able to play off each other and help one another."
The spa tenants potentially could have 24-hour access and a separate entrance, allowing them to serve clients even when the boutique is closed.

The building offers another feature Helmer is especially excited about.
"We also have a large basement area where we can do some fun parties," she said. "We used to hold yoga classes or paint-and-sip parties and other fun events at the Wallburg store, but it's small, so our space was really limited there. I have this huge basement that we could do those types of things in. We could also do them upstairs. I'll have to wait and see how the space works out."
While Magnolia Boutique has grown far beyond its beginnings in a mobile trailer, Helmer hasn't forgotten where the business started. She still owns and operates the Magnolia Mobile Boutique, taking her fashion offerings on the road to festivals, pop-up markets and special events throughout the region. That combination of entrepreneurial spirit, community involvement and local partnerships continues to drive the business forward.”
