A few weeks ago I went to Youngstown OH to visit some family and while there, I spent 24 hrs in Cleveland, which, much to my delight, was packed with great shopping and coffee! And so another “best of” newsletter was born. This time I get to rep the state where I was born 🤘link to read is up in our stories. You can easily hit all these spots in a single day with a car so if you’re ever flying to Cleveland, I highly recommended sticking around for a bit. Also I was only there for a day and I am sure there’s plenty I missed, but these are the spots where the customer service and the vibes hit the hardest ✨

We are open all weekend! July 4th from about 11-2, maybe longer, so stop by our chilly space to beat the heat and enjoy an iced coffee or a nice chat about denim or whatever new show you might be watching!

And then on Sunday July 5th the Trade Street Farmers Market is ON! It’s gonna be a scorcher though so come early. Hours of the market may be abbreviated to keep our farmers and vendors safe, but there will be plenty of cold treats to cool you down including shaved ice, ice cream, iced coffee, iced matcha, fresh squeeze lemonade, and more.

Here’s a summer drop we’ve been eagerly anticipating for months around here - the Wonder Looper Amami Hand Dyed Recycled Cotton Slub Tees!

Made start to finish in Japan from the cotton fibers cast off during the yarn spinning process + extra long staple cotton + the off cuts from their infamous double heavy weight tee, these shirts have a slubby, bouncy, and sturdy texture.

They then make their way to Amami, a chain of islands off the coast where centuries-old dyeing techniques are kept alive.

On Amami these tees were repeatedly dipped in the bark of the Sharinbai tree which produces this rosy hue, but that’s not all - they were also dipped in mud! Yes, mud! By soaking them in an iron rich mud, the tees developed different shades (swipe through to see the 3 styles) all achieved from natural materials.

I know it can be no fun to leave the house let alone shop when it’s literally 100 degrees, but if it’s safe for you to venture out this week, remember to stop by your favorite local shops and grab a coffee, a sticker, a card, a candle, etc! Even the smallest purchase can make a big difference in the day of a small biz owner during these heat waves. For us it’s when you drop by to say hi and just get an iced coffee. We love it. Also the AC is cranked in here (and probably at a lot of other shops too) so we’re also a nice refuge from the heat if you need a break ☀️ okay stay safe and cool out there!

We’re hanging with our friends Low Five Analog Archive & EMBER Audio + Design tonight for a vinyl lounge on Trade Street.

Bring your favorite record/song to Low Five, maybe even prepare a little story about why it’s meaningful to you, and then let it rip for the audience.

Stop by our shop for a coffee beforehand (we’ll have fresh iced and decaf brewing too). If you’re running late, don’t worry, I’ll have a full carafe of the good stuff over at Low Five too. Plus Little Pep is providing the wine.

Come hang downtown tonight. Make friends. Hear new music. Drink coffee & wine. What more could ya ask for.

Five years ago today I opened the doors to Fancy Groceries inside the Ardmore Barbershop. For 2 months before that it was just lauren and I as a tiny pop up selling socks, ties, and axes apparently haha so technically we are 5 years 2mo old today. I won’t get all sappy but I am full of sap about it, believe me. From a cobbled together pop up to a brick and mortar in the heart of downtown, then from the Sunday Socials (iykyk) to the Trade Street Farmers Market. And honestly if you’re reading this, it is what it is because of you guys.

Thank you for always showing up. Thank you to everyone who helped build this - I did not do it alone. I owe a thousand favors to the friends and strangers who showed up to install tiles, put in floors, build the branding, talk me off a ledge, mentor me, and more.
