A client came knocking in hopes to save this one!

Faded finish, water-ringed top, chipped veneer, and hardware so tarnished you couldn’t tell it was brass. This 1960s credenza isn’t my usual mid-century modern lane — but good bones are good bones. When a client trusts you with a family piece, you bring it back right!

90 seconds of restoration. That walnut grain was hiding under all the damage the whole time. 🤎

Someone painted a $2,000 Dillingham walnut credenza BLACK. So I spent my time between baby naps bringing it back to life.

Mid-century pieces like this came factory-finished in stunning book-matched walnut — and someone rolled flat black paint right over it. Criminal. Watch the grain come back from the dead ☠️

Drove an hour each way for this Facebook Marketplace find — and I’d do it again tomorrow!

It started with sanding the top back to raw walnut, then a full wipe-down with naphtha to lift dust & grime without raising the grain. From there it was outside for a fresh lacquer finish, and then the part nobody talks about: hand-polishing every piece of brass hardware. I’m not exaggerating when I say it took almost as long as the sanding did. But those original pulls and that center medallion are the soul of this piece — cutting that corner would’ve ruined it.

Mid-century craftsmanship doesn’t get made anymore, but it can absolutely get saved.

Another restoration commission complete 🫡

This Drexel Parallel dresser came to me looking rough — water rings, scratches, decades of grime hiding that gorgeous walnut grain underneath. But Parallel pieces by Barney Flagg are some of the most underrated MCM finds out there, and I knew what was waiting under all that wear.

The sculpted drawer pulls and channeled fronts are what make this line so special. You don’t see craftsmanship like this in modern furniture — every detail was intentional. ✨

Took this orphaned MCM hutch top and built a custom base from scrap wood to turn it into a standalone display shelf. Total cost of the frame? Give me your best guess 👀

The result? A one-of-one mid-century bookcase you can’t buy anywhere. Except here, of course 🤩

This is why I love saving vintage pieces — the “unsellable” ones often become the best projects.
