On June 26, 2026, the Mecha Dogs kicked off our first summer session of Riverfront STEM Nights for Kids with our Landing on Mars challenge! Students first learned about aerospace engineering, including how engineers design spacecraft, the challenges of landing on Mars, the effects of gravity and impact, and the engineering design process. They then became “astronauts” and engineers, designing protective spacecraft to safely land their marshmallow astronaut using a variety of materials. It was amazing to see their creativity, teamwork, and excitement throughout the challenge, making our first STEM Night a huge success! We can’t wait to continue inspiring young innovators every Friday for the next five weeks.
