✨ RELIQ of Elizabethtown turns ONE! ✨
One year ago, I opened the doors to something entirely my own: an original natural perfumery, gallery, studio, and cabinet of curiosities brought together under one roof.
Before the echoes and imitations, there was the idea: carefully imagined, researched, and composed. RELIQ wasn't created at a business meeting or copied from a trend. It grew from my life in science, art, fragrance, history, poetry, and collecting, as well as from my belief that a shop could be an artistic and community experience rather than merely a place to buy things.
The search began for a space in Elizabethtown in 2024, and against delays, obstacles, and more behind-the-scenes challenges than most will ever know, RELIQ opened and flourished.
During its first year, hundreds of people from all over the globe, from Hawaii to Alaska, to Japan, to South Africa, and Russia, crossed the threshold to discover original botanical niche perfumes, unusual art, antiques, natural treasures, workshops, poetry readings, conversations, and moments of genuine connection. And to create. Customers became regulars. Regulars became friends.
A strange little dream became a living place with a history and character all its own, on land once owned by my earliest immigrant ancestor, an ancestor whose son was foundational to the creation of our nation.
It brought me so much joy to see visitors connect and appreciate the space and you all helped me recognize what that meant. Thank you to every person who visited, purchased a fragrance, attended an event, shared a post, told a friend, encouraged me, or simply understood what I was trying to build.
The first year was only the beginning. RELIQ begins year two in the vibrant gallery row of Downtown York, PA's Royal Square District.
