Good evening, my friends!
I just wanted to say, "hi," and give you all a behind-the-scenes peek into what The Trinket Shelf looks like before it all actually makes it to the booth. This is me-Kelly- sitting on my floor tonight, manually entering all the items into a paper notebook-totally old school, while catching up on Jeopardy episodes with my hubby. I have my toolbox somewhere to my left with all of my pricing tools and light cleaning supplies at the ready. I've been gathering everything I can find for a Father's Day display which I'm setting up in the booth tomorrow. I also have a large TJMaxx bag full of items I sourced this weekend in Texas that needs cleaning and pricing as well as a vintage/antique(?) chest of drawers packed full of fabrics & sewing notions that will appear in the booths as soon as I figure out how to separate all the items.
I've been doing all of this booth stuff for only a year, even though I've loved antique shopping, thrifting, going to garage & estate sales, etc. for as long as I can remember. I'm still learning, researching, trying new things and feeling more and more comfortable with it all. I follow other booth owners whose style mirrors my own and others who I respect and aspire to be more like and even more past those reasons because I strongly believe in supporting other booths and genuinely being happy for everyone's accomplishments because we're all simply just trying our best and I don't think we should be in competition with one another.
I've tried to stay on top of current trends in the vintage world while staying true to myself and my gut feelings & imagination for how I want to present myself through my booths and my pricing. My day job is working with elementary students as a Paraprofessional, so it's in my nature to decorate and build themes and seasonal displays with appropriate vintage items, as well as sprinkling in items that may fit in aesthetically and pleasing to the eye. Like I said before, I'm still learning and figuring this all out, but I hope you all know that I strive to provide a variety of quality items, at different price points, for all sorts of interests and customers of all kinds.
Yes, this is a pretty overwhelming picture and a very raw look into what this all looks like, but I am absolutely LOVING every minute of this booth owner life!
(Shoutout to my family for tolerating all of this craziness!)
