In Memory of Graham Greene (1952โ€“2025)
Graham Greene was more than an actor.
He was a storyteller, a cultural bridge, and a quiet guardian of Native American identity.
Through his roles, he gave Indigenous characters something Hollywood had long denied them โ€” depth, dignity, and humanity.
He refused stereotypes. He chose truth.
Whether portraying elders, warriors, fathers, or healers, Graham Greene carried Native presence with respect โ€” reminding the world that Indigenous people are not relics of the past, but living cultures with voices, values, and wisdom.
Beyond the screen, he represented pride without anger, strength without noise, and resistance through integrity.
For many Native youth, seeing him meant seeing themselves โ€” not as myths, but as real, resilient people.

The Trail of Tears: Choctaw Story
In the 1830s, the Choctaw people were forced to leave their homeland. Thousands walked over 500 miles, enduring hunger, disease, and bitter cold.
This forced march became known as the Trail of Tears. Families carried what little they could, and many didnโ€™t survive the journey. Soldiers drove them westward, while graves lined the path.
But in the face of suffering, resilience endured. The Choctaw rebuilt their lives in Oklahoma, carrying their culture and traditions forward.
The Trail of Tears remains one of the darkest chapters in U.S. history, and a reminder of survival against cruelty.

Robert De Niro was born on August 1943, in New York City, into an artistic family. He began his career in the 1960s and rose to prominence with roles in Bang the Drum Slowly (1973), Mean Streets (1973), and especially The Godfather Part II (1974), which earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
He continued to impress with Taxi Driver (1976), Raging Bull (1980 โ€“ Best Actor Oscar), Goodfellas, Casino, Heat, The Irishman (2019), and Killers of the Flower Moon (2023). Beyond acting, he co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival, the global Nobu restaurant chain, and is a vocal advocate for social justice, arts education, and climate action. With over 60 years of dedication, De Niro stands as a living icon of cinematic excellence and civic responsibility.

Chief Dan George was actually a chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation in British Columbia, Canada from 1951 to 1963. Also an author and poet, George achieved his first acting job at the age of 60, appearing in the Canadian TV show, Caribou Country. But Georgeโ€™s acting career didnโ€™t peak until 1970 when he starred in Little Big Man, a role for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Another great role for George was the part of Lone Watie in The Outlaw Josie Wales (1976), often considered one of the best American Westerns. And Georgeโ€™s performance in this American classic could be considered Oscar-worthy as well. George also appeared on TV shows such as Kung Fu. During Georgeโ€™s writing career, he was credited with fostering understanding between non-native and Native Americans, particularly with the release of his book, My Heart Soars

War is a human-made disaster that continues to devastate the lives of countless people worldwide. As highlighted by the quote, "War itself is a form of madness," we are constantly reminded of how destructive and irrational the pursuit of violence can be. Yet, despite the significant toll war takes on society, our focus often remains on innovation in tools of destruction rather than on developing sustainable solutions for peace. There is something deeply unsettling about the ease with which we create weapons, and the slow pace at which we invest in diplomacy and conflict resolution.

Itโ€™s essential to reflect on how we, as a global society, prioritize war over peaceful alternatives. Countries and individuals alike devote an immense amount of resources to military technology, yet the conversation about peacebuilding strategies, international cooperation, and conflict resolution remains underfunded. The staggering contrast between the investment in warfare and the scant attention given to diplomacy only further fuels the madness of war itself. We must challenge ourselves to redirect focus and energy into global peace efforts before the world is irreparably harmed.

As we ponder this difficult truth, let us not forget that true strength lies in peace, not war. How many more lives must be lost before we recognize that the pursuit of peace requires more than just a ceasefire? It requires a commitment to understanding, empathy, and the dismantling of systems that prioritize conflict. The time to act is nowโ€”let us move forward with a renewed focus on making peace a priority.

Samuel Pack Elliott (born August 9, 1944) is an American actor. He is the recipient of several accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a National Board of Review Award.

He has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Emmy Awards. Elliott was cast in the musical drama A Star Is Born (2018), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the corresponding prizes at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards. He also won a National Board of Review Award. Elliott starred as Shea Brennan in the American drama miniseries 1883 (2021โ€“2022), for which he won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie.
Elliott is known for his distinctive lanky physique, full mustache, and deep, sonorous voice. A Kiowa war chief and medicine man, Satank (Set-angia, Sitting Bear) was probably born circa 1800 near the Black Hills of South Dakota and was of Kiowa and Sarsi descent. A member of the Koitsenko warrior society, Satank won notoriety in combat against the Cheyenne, Pawnee, and other Kiowa enemies. Many Kiowa believed he possessed mysterious powers and shunned him. He was one of several leaders who emerged after the death of the chief Dohasan in 1866.
Satank was among those who placed their mark upon the Fort Atkinson Treaty of 1853 and the Medicine Lodge Treaty of 1867. The latter relegated the Kiowa to a reservation in the Leased District of Indian Territory. His discontentment with reservation life intensified after Texans killed his favorite son in 1870. An elderly but vengeful Satank joined Satanta, Big Tree, and other restless Kiowa, Kiowa-Apache, and Comanche warriors on raids into Texas
On May 18, 1871, Satank participated in an attack upon a wagon train in which seven teamsters were killed near Fort Richardson, Texas. He was arrested at Fort Sill for his involvement in the massacre and was ordered to stand trial for murder. On June 8, 1871, he was placed securely in a wagon for transport to Jacksboro, Texas. Singing the Koitsenko death song, he assailed his military es**rt and was killed. His body was buried at Fort Sill
